Fritz
Peyo snuggled nervously up to Emmie. Paula tried to calm the boy down, but there was nothing to do. Fritz briefly considered accommodating Peyo and Paula in an inn, but Paula insisted on accompanying him to the meeting. They left a little earlier than necessary to show the two teenagers a beautiful lake in which Paula had learned how to swim as a child. Emmie turned out to be a true water junky.
The carriage was now bumping a bit as it drove into the capital. A new meeting of the rebels. Fritz reached in his jacket pocket for the bundle he was carrying. Money he would give to Hany. Should he drop Peyo off at the inn alone? No. That was out of the question. Thanks to his mother, even more cruelty to bound people was permitted now. He did not want to expose his two children to this danger. Between rebels, Peyo was safer. No rebel would do anything to a bound person. In addition, Fritz assumed that Emmie had no inhibitions about biting anyone who tried to do anything to Peyo.
The carriage stopped at the market square. Fritz instructed the coachman to wait for them here. He and Paula were dressed as ordinary citizens and no guards accompanied them. Emmie and Peyo held each other's hands. The two looked around excitedly. The merchants of the market had wrapped themselves in blankets, as it had become cold in the city. A strong wind was blowing. At the small stalls, in addition to the most beautiful things, hats and scarves were now offered. The air smelled of fresh waffles.
"Can we go through the market afterward?", asked Emmie excitedly.
"Of course", Paula agreed. "We have plenty of time."
"Yes?" Peyo smiled happily. "Can we buy something?" He pointed to one of the stalls, where colorful hats and fine scarves were offered. Beautiful scarves as colorful as a rainbow. Paula nodded.
Fritz, on the other hand, looked at two people who rushed towards them. Ingried and her husband Adam.
Peyo followed his gaze nervously. "Do they want to join us?", he asked quietly.
"Yes. That's my little sister." Fritz smiled happily. "One of my little sisters!"
"She looks older than you", Emmie muttered. "Is she mortal?"
Paula nodded. In the meantime, the two had arrived at them. Ingried hugged Fritz happily. "How nice to see you!" Then she also hugged Paula. Adam only shook hands with them. But he smiled.
"And who are they?", he asked, pointing to Emmie and Peyo.
"Our adopted children. Emmie and Peyo", Paula replied. Of course, it was clear that the two were servants and not adopted children. The fine lines of the binding spell shimmered conspicuously on the wrists of the teenagers. But Ingried and Adam ignored the symbols.
"Glad to meet you! I'm Ingried. Fritz's sister!" Without hesitation, she embraced the two of them in greeting. She stayed a little longer hugging Peyo. "Heavens, you're cute!", she said. "I could hug you all day long!"
Peyo blushed.
"He is!", confirmed Emmie, amused. "But as far as hugging is concerned, that's not possible. He's reserved!"
"Oh?" Ingried laughed. Then she turned back to Fritz. Meanwhile, Adam chatted with Paula smiling.
"I think we should move on", Fritz suggested. "The meeting will start soon."
So the group set off. They walked past the market into a small side street. From there, they walked on to an inconspicuous wooden door that led into a tunnel. The walls of the tunnel were damp and it smelled of algae. These tunnels were ancient. An old escape route left over from the Great War. At that time, during the war, this city was still a village and the inhabitants escaped through this tunnel system of an army of werewolves.
