Marie
"Marie?" Early in the morning, Pia suddenly stood behind her. Marie had just finished her breakfast and was tidying up her usual seat with her friends. Her friends raised their eyebrows at the sight of Pia. Marie had long since told them about the matter of the 'stolen boyfriend'. Elin looked at her questioningly. Marie nodded and sighed annoyed.
"Is there anything I can do to help you?", she asked.
"Can we talk?"
"No." Marie wanted to leave, but Pia stood in her way. Alrik cleared his throat loudly, but Pia didn't move aside.
"Please. Marie. Just very briefly. I'm sorry", she pleaded.
"About what exactly?", grumbled Marie. Pia looked nervously at her friends, who were now saying goodbye to Marie to leave them alone. Lou asked Marie beforehand if that was okay. She agreed. Sighing, she followed her former friend out of the dining room and outside.
"I have to go to the morning training soon!", Marie grumbled.
Pia nodded. "I know. It won't take long. I'm sorry. That with August. I... I hadn't planned it. It just happened."
"He was my boyfriend! I was in love. You don't steal other's boyfriends."
"I know. But... It was August's decision. He left you. I didn't ask him to. The kiss was not planned. But... It happened, didn't it?"
"That's probably true." And now, it was also meaningless. Marie was with Theo. She no longer mourned August. But the anger remained. "It happened and passed."
"Will you forgive me?" Pia looked at her with pleading eyes.
"I don't know..." Marie pulled on a strand of her dark hair. "It was terrible, Pia. You don't just forget something like that."
"I know. He also left me. For another." She rolled her eyes. "He called it a mistake at first. He was drunk when he slept with her. I wanted to forgive him, which was stupid. But then, suddenly, she was the love of his life."
Marie raised her eyebrows. Did Pia apologize because of this? "Did he? But he said YOU were his great love when he left me."
"Not anymore." Pia shrugged. "He's married now. And has two children."
"What? Really?" Marie shook her head in confusion. "He didn't want children."
"I know. I want children someday. That's why we argued from time to time. He also wanted to go to military school. Just like us. Or study at the university. He changed his mind almost daily. And then, all of a sudden, he told me it was over. He would get married on the weekend. She was the love of his life, which he had realized unexpectedly. He thanked me for forgiving him and left. Three days after he broke up with me, he married someone else. A mortal girl. And seven months after the wedding, their first child was born. His child. A healthy, round boy. I saw the three of them together once. His new girl bragged about their child."
"Oh." Marie's mouth dropped. "And they have two children now?"
"Yes. His mother insisted on many grandchildren and suddenly it was all he wanted. With a Mortal. After all, she was very obviously ready to start production immediately. And now, she sits alone at home with two toddlers, because August is almost never there. He currently works as a construction worker. For a small business that uses magic to build special buildings that would not be possible otherwise. And after that, he hangs out in the pub. My mother is friends with his mother. She told me about it. According to my mom, both children look exactly like him."
"Then he became just like his father", Marie grumbled. "Such a fool. It's a good thing we don't have to deal with it, isn't it? That could be you, Pia. The one who sits at home alone with a bunch of children."
