A Birthday to End

(Bright early in the morning)

(The sun rises through Niki's windows as she is curled on her side)

(She slowly begins to wake up as the sun hits her face)

(Moments later, Elizabeth cracks the door open and with a large grin and softly talks to Niki)

Elizabeth: Good morning, birthday girl.

Niki: (stretches) Morning, mom.

Elizabeth: I have a little surprise waiting for you downstairs.

(Niki's eyes shine to the thought)

(Elizabeth leaves the door cracked as she heads back downstairs)

(A few seconds of Niki thinking what could be waiting for her, she jumps out of bed in excitement and races downstairs after her mother)

(Sonic sits on the couch with his arm over the head of the couch. Niki's shine breaks into a million pieces and is met with a blunt look. Elizabeth stands more away from the stairs)

Niki: (to Elizabeth) How is this a surprise?! (To Sonic and arms open) I see you every day!

Sonic: (blunt) Well happy birthday to you too.

Elizabeth: You two be nice, but no, it's not Sonic.

Niki: Then who?

(Elizabeth points towards the kitchen but is instead pointing in a corner)

(Red eyes veer from the corner and out appears Shadow)

Niki: (nervous and to Elizabeth) You invited Shadow? That's a first...

Elizabeth: (arm crossed) Well, I figured that since he's never been to any of your birthdays, I thought inviting him to one of your big ones would be good for a change.

Niki: (looks at Shadow) So you convinced him?

Shadow: (nervous and arms crossed) She has a way with words, let's say that.

(Elizabeth veers to Shadow with a sadistic look)

(A small flashback occurs back at Shadow's temple)

(Silver and Shadow are having a conversation and Silver gets a call from Elizabeth. Silver answers it)

Silver: Hey. Kinda a surprise getting a call from you.

Elizabeth: I know we don't really conversate much, but are you with Shadow per chance?

Silver: (looks over to Shadow) Uh, Yeah. Do you want to talk to him?

Elizabeth: Please dear.

(Silver puts his arm out so Shadow could speak)

Shadow: (unsure) Hello...?

Elizabeth: (Sadistic) Shadow, I have a little request.

Shadow: Okay?

Elizabeth: (still same) In two days is Niki's birthday and I know how much you two hang out, so I wondering if you don't mind being the centerpiece for her.

Shadow: (blunt) Do I have to go?

Elizabeth: (threats) If you don't, I'll make sure you'll feel every little spine of yours being plucked out from your skull and deliver it to you as a bouquet. (Happily) Are we clear?
