They stayed a few more days in Wakanda, trying to figure out who had been lost in the fight or in the Snap and who was still alive. They crossed out every name of the people they had seen fade away and then they'd go research in the woods for a body, dead or alive.

Steve had repeated it multiple times that he had seen Bucky fade away to dust but Hailey secretly never stopped hoping Bucky would somehow reappear.

Though she participated in research and everything, Hailey still couldn't bring herself to speak up one single word. The only thing that kept her going was that Steve and the others had still hope, somehow.

After figuring out they could not stay in Wakanda anymore, they took the Quinjet and fled to America. She didn't even look back, she couldn't seem to feel one goddamn thing about everything that was going on.

Once they were back to America, the Quinjet landed on the Avengers compound lawn, Hailey noticed only very few rooms of the compound were on. The team walked back in the compound and they all almost immediately got back to work.

Hailey stared at all of them, standing from behind. She wondered how they could do it, they all seemed to be doing so well. They were all helping to save the world once again and she couldn't even bring herself to speak. She felt endlessly useless, and she hated feeling this way. But she didn't have the strength within herself to change anything.

She walked up to her bedroom, plugged in her phone and patiently waited for it to charge. Once it had enough battery, she immediately called Tony.

He didn't answer.

Her mind went to all scenarios possible. She didn't know anything that had happened to him. She prayed and begged that he would still be alive. She couldn't lose her brother, too. Not right now. She could never handle it if she was to lose another person.

She then called Pepper, who answered at the second dial tone.

"Hailey? Oh my god!" Pepper sighed out of relief.

"Pep?! You're alive? Oh my god..." Hailey stood up.

"Hailey, what the fuck is going on?! Everyone started to disappear and the world's fucking ending! What—"

"We lost. We couldn't win this time. Wh— where is Tony? Is he okay? Alive?"

"I thought you could tell me that" Pepper whispered.

Hailey's heart, or what was left of it, sunk to her toes and she frowned her eyebrows.

"What... what do you mean?"

"Tony, he... right before everything started, something happened here and he went to space in an alien spaceship"

"What the fuck?!" Hailey exclaimed, pacing around the room and running a hand through her hair.

"I have no news of him ever since. You didn't know?"

"No, I didn't! No one told me"

"Oh well... what's going on now?"

"Uh, I don't really know. I've been pretty much out of it until now, I... Bucky's... and..."

"Oh my god, Hailey, I am so sorry"

"It's fine" Hailey shook her head, closing her eyes, "I... the others are trying to find Thanos, I think. I... I don't really know, I..."

"Hailey, it's okay. You can always call me back later"

"Why don't you come back to the compound? You'll be better here with everyone than elsewhere alone. And you shouldn't be alone when you don't know where your fiancé is"
