Two Years after the Snap

Hailey stood in front of her mirror, staring at her own reflection. Her hands grazed gently over the soft fabric of her light green dress.

She sighed as she looked away from her reflection. The more she looked at herself, the less she recognized herself. Her hair was much longer now, just like she was in Hydra, down to her ass almost. Large black bags surrounded her eyes and her hazel eyes were filled with misery. Her skin was now much more pale, making her veins almost noticeable if you looked close enough. And she was now much skinnier, her arms and chest were the places you could see it most. Hailey hated it.

But her tiredness, her depression and her pale look appearance were only symptoms of her slowly dying state. She didn't feel much sad that she would die soon but she now welcomed every new day as a change to make up for future lost time.

Hailey walked out of the bathroom and opened the door to the living room, letting in sight Pepper in the most beautiful white wedding dress. Hailey grinned at the sight and her eyes filled with happy proud tears.

"Oh my god, you look absolutely gorgeous!" Hailey complimented Pepper.

Pepper turned around and gave Hailey her warmest smile. "Thank you! You look splendid as well"

"Oh please" Hailey almost rolled her eyes, "Are you ready?"

"I don't think I'll ever be" Pepper sighed nervously.

"Come on, it's gonna be alright. Getting married to my brother is going to be the easiest part of this marriage" Hailey smiled.

"You're right" Pepper chuckled.

"Alright, where's the last piece of my outfit?" Hailey smiled, clapping her hands together.

"Oh! She is right here" Pepper said before turning around to get her daughter.

Hailey grinned as she took her niece in her arms. Morgan was now so grown, she was a year and four months old but it seemed to Hailey it had been only a few weeks since she'd been born.

"Hello, you" Hailey cooed to her niece, "Are you ready to walk down the aisle with Auntie Hailey? Yes you are. Gosh you're too cute" Hailey groaned before kissing Morgan's cheek.

Pepper smiled as she watched Hailey with Morgan, though her heart was filled with sorrow. Pepper knew Hailey wouldn't be with them for too long so she knew she had to enjoy every moment.

Hailey looked down at her niece and gave her the most loving smile she could do. Hailey almost teared up at the thought she'd never get to watch Morgan grow up.

Hailey pulled out of her own thoughts and looked up to Pepper before giving her a small smile.

"Come on, it's going to be time" Hailey whispered, "Can't believe you're getting married with my brother"

"Neither can I" Pepper laughed, "Thank you for being here, Hailey"

"Of course. I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world" Hailey scoffed.

"I realize how painful it must be for you to be here. I just wanted to thank you for still being here"

Hailey looked down, holding on tighter to Morgan. She looked quickly to her ring, the one James was supposed to give her. She always wore it, it was her way to bring James everywhere with her.
