Chapter 76

Mel's POV
I wake up to the sound of Lil giggling. Why is she giggling? I sigh and get out of bed walking to the living room. I see Damon there playing with Lil. I smile at the sight. Damon sees me and smiles. He turns Lil around and Lil smiles widely at me. She runs at me and I pick her up placing her on my hip.
"Hey baby. Are you ok?" I ask. She nods.
"Is daddy being a good boy?" I tease. She giggles and smiles.
"Yes mommy. He been good boy."
"Good. Now. Why don't you go play while I talk to daddy? Ok?" She nods and I put her down. She ran to our room and I heard the TV on. Sofia The First was on. I loved that show as a child. I look at Damon and walk over to him. I sit on the couch and he sits in front of me. I look down and start playing with my hands nervously. Damon holds my hands and brings my chin up. I look at his face and it holds concern.
"What's wrong Melanie?" He asks.
"I did something terrible while I went away. I... I... I.. Urmm..." I trail off. How am I supposed to tell him this?
"What did you do?" He asks panicked.
"I c-c-cut." I say.
"Cut? As in...." He trails off and I nod. He gasps and tears start running down his cheeks. I knew he was disappointed. I run upstairs and pack my stuff. I feel arms wrap themselves around my waist.
"What are you doing Mel?" I hear Damon'd voice break.
"I'm leaving. I suggest you leave before I make you leave again." I say coldy and harshly.
"Please Melanie. Don't push me away." He begs. I turn in his arms and look into his eyes tears dropping.
"You will forget everything about me. You will forget that you ever had children with me. You will forget everything to do with me. You will go back to Mystic Falls and behave. You will help others and become the good person I know you are. Goodbye Damon." I say with tears falling. Damon turns around and leaves. Sobs leave my mouth and they become violent. I'm sorry Damon. I'm so sorry.
"Mommy? What's wrong? Where's Daddy?" Lil says coming towards me.
"Daddy had to go home. He has a job and we won't see him for a while. I'm sorry baby." I say sobbing still.
"It ok Mommy. Daddy will come back. He will." She reassures me. I smile at her and kiss her on the forehead.
"It's getting close to nap time. You should go to sleep." i say. She nods and lies down on the bed. She falls asleep and I grab my phone. I go through my contacts to Jeremy's name. It rings 4 times before he picks up.

J-Hello?
M-Jer? Its Melanie.
J-Melanie! Oh my god! Whats wrong?
M-Damon found me. He's coming back but I had to compel him to not remember anything to do with me. Don't bring me up when he's around. Tell everyone else.
J-Ok Melanie but why?
M-He found out my secret. He became disappointed in me.
J-Awwww Melanie. I'm always here.
M-Thanks Jer. I have to go. I love you.
J-Love you too.

I hang up and my sobs carry on. I regret ever answering my phone to Damon. I was such and idiot. I don't want to continue but I have to for Lil's sake. I close my eyes and the switch flips. I smirk and lie down next to Lil. She's the only person I care about now. She's everything to me. I drift off to sleep.
