Elena's POV
After 20 minutes of Mel and Bonnie 'talking', I decide to step in. I walk into the kitchen to find Bonnie unconscious on the floor and no sign of Melanie. I rush to Bonnie. I shake her and yell her name, not knowing what to do. Her eyes fly open and she gasps. I pull her into a hug.
"Oh my God. You're ok. You're ok." I say over and over. Bonnie pulls back and sighs.
"Elena. I have sonething to tell you both." She never calls me Elena unless it's serious.
"What is it Bon?" I ask. She indicates for me to help her up so I do. I take her to the lounge and place her on the couch.
"Get Jeremy. He needs to hear this." I nod and shout for Jeremy. He comes rushing down.
"What? What is it?" He asks panicked.
"Bonnie has something to tell us." I say and he sighs in relief. He comes and sits next to me.
"So.. What did you want to tell us?" I ask.
"It's about Melanie." She says. With them words said, possibilities start running through my head.
"What is it?" Jeremy asks for the both of us.
"She... She has her switch off." She says. I stand up and laugh.
"She can't have it off. If she had it off then why did she return home instead of travelled?" I say.
"I don't know Lena. My Grams told me which means it's true. Please Lena. You have to believe me." I go to protest but get interrupted by Jeremy standing up and standing by Bonnie.
"I'm with Bonnie on this. There's a high chance that Mel has her humanity off and you know that. How would you feel when your true love is killed?" I sigh and nod.
"So.. Whag are we going to do?" I ask and Bonnie smiles.
"First off. We need to find Melanie." Bon says.
"I know exactly where." Jeremy says and leads us out of the door. He takes us to the Grill. We walk in and just as Jeremy predicted, Melanie is sat at the bar with little Lillian next to her. I listen in to their conversation.
"Mommy. When is daddy coming back?" I can't believe she still has hope.
"Soon baby. He's coming home soon. I'll make sure of it." She's going to bring Damon back?! I walk over and sit next to Mel. She looks at me but carried on drinking her bourbon. Something her and Damon had in common.
"Hey Mel. How you holding up?" I ask seeing if there is any emotion.
"I'm doing fine Lena. It's just... It's hard you know? Having your one true love die and the last words you said to him weren't 'I love you'. It hurts Lena." She says with tears in her eyes. She hasn't got her emotions off. I bring her into a hug and she cries.
"It'll be ok. I'm always here if you want to talk ok? I'm always going to be here." She nods and sobs a little while longer. She pulls back and smiles weakly at me.
"Thank you Lena. For always being there. Through thick and thin." She says.
"It's ok Mel. I'm always going to be here." She smiles brighter and brings me into a hug. "Thank you." She whispers in my ear. I rub her back while looking at Jer and Bon who are looking this way in confusion. I pull back and say,
"I'm sorry but I have to go. Talk later?" She nods and I walk out knowing Jer and Bon will follow. I wait by the door for 5 minutes till they come out. They look at me with confusion.
"I was told she had her emotions off. Why was she showing emotion?" Bon asks confused.
"I'm not sure Bonnie but it's ok. She has her humanity on and that's what matters." I say.
"But if she had her humanity on then why did she push me down and make me become unconscious?"
"Maybe it was an accident. Look. Can we just forget what happened? She has her humanity on. Just let it go." I say and walk home. Today so far... Too stressful.
