Chapter 8

Mel's POV

I wake up groaning. Damon vervained me! How long have I been out?

"Hello sleepy head." I hear Damon say.

"Fuck off Damon. I don't want you near me." He chuckles. Does he think I'm joking?

"Well you can't do anything about it. Here. Drink." He rolls a bottle of blood into the cell and as much as I want to drink it... I roll it back out to Damon.

"I'm not drinking it Damon."

"You have to. Either you drink it willingly or I come in there and make you drink it."

"How about.... None of the above." I say chuckling.

"Don't make me come in there. You haven't got your daylight ring so I suggest you be quiet."

"Don't be ridiculous Damon. Of course I have my..." I say looking at my hand but cut myself off when I realise I haven't.

"Where is it? I swear to God Damon.... Where is it?!" I shout at him rushing to the door.

"I'm not telling you." I move away from the door and he comes in. I sit on the bed and stare at the wall opposite. Damon sits next to me.

"Why am I here Damon? It can't be just because I'm leaving."

"You're right. You're in here for 3 reasons. 1 is you leaving. 2 is you need to stop killing people for a snack. 3 is I want your emotions back. You stop them 3 then you're a free woman until then you're staying in here."

"Can I at least talk to Elena?" He nods cautiously. He walks out and Elena walks in.

"Elena. Listen.... before you give me the 'I need the real you back' lecture let me tell you something. I want you to tell Damon that I'm sorry for the pain and greif I have given him. I want you to tell Stefan the same. Jeremy... Tell Jeremy that I'm sorry but I won't be coming back and you... I'm so sorry for compelling you to forget vampires I just didn't know how I did it but I guess I won't ever find out." She sighs and sits next to me.

"Here. Take it..." She starts handing me my daylight ring.

"I want you to put it on and live your life here in Mystic Falls. I don't want to lose anymore family."

"What about Damon? He could be listening in right now?"

"He left once he got me and won't be back for a while. I'm sorry for taking Damon away from you. I just... I love him."

"What about Stefan?"

"I love him too. I guess I'm just like Katherine and Christine."

"Who's Katherine and Christine?"

"You don't know the story?"

"No."

"Well you see. Katherine is our ancestor as well as Christine. I look like Katherine and you look like Christine. Katherine was interested in Stefan as well as Damon but Christine.... She loved Damon. When Katherine went after Damon she made Christine mess with Stefan therefore both brothers think that they loved them both but when they got captured, Stefan and Damon tried to stop them and help the twins except they got shot in cold blood by their father but they had vampire blood in their system so they turned. When I saw Stefan for the first time... It wasn't the first time he saw me. He saw us on the day our parents died. He was the one who saved us."

"What? Do you think Damon loved me because I looked Christine?"

"I don't know." She replies honestly. I feel tears well up in my eyes. Is my humanity back?
