Damon's POV
I wake up and see we have landed. I run off and head to the address that Liz gave me. I knock on the door.
"Hang on!" I hear Melanie's voice say. She's actually here. She opens the door and looks at me shocked.
"D-Damon. What are you doing here?" She asks gulping.
"I'm here to help you with our kid." I say smiling.
"W-what k-kid? I h-had a m-miscarriage." She stutters. I hear a child in the background giggling. Melanie sighs and groans. A little girl then runs to the door. She's beautiful. I crouch down and smile at her.
"Hello. What's your name?" I ask.
"Lillian Miranda Salvatore." She says smiling. She was named after my mum. I smile.
"Are you my daddy?" She asks. I look up at Melanie to see if I can tell her. Melanie crouches down and picks up Lillian.
"Yes baby. This is daddy." Mel says smiling widely.
"Daddy!" Lillian squeals and squirms out of Melanie's arms to mine. She's so beautiful. i chuckle and Melanie lets me in. I sit on the couch with Lillian on my lap.
"Hey baby. Why don't you go play in your room while I talk to daddy?" Mel says. Lillian nods and runs off. Mel sits next to me.
"Look Damon. You shouldn't have came here." She starts.
"But Melanie. I'm here to be a happy family. You obviously thought of me when you named her because you know my mother's name was Lillian. I want to be here to help. Because yet again, I missed 5 years of her life." I say.
"I don't know Damon. What if the same thing happens. I can't keep going on knowing I lost my 2 babies because of something that you did?" She says with tears rolling down her face.
"It won't happen again. I promise. Just please... Don't push me away." I beg.
"I think it's time you leave." She says coldly and harshly.
"No." I say. But I instantly regret it when Melanie gives me an aneurysm. I scream out in pain and hold my head.
"I. Said. Leave!" Melanie bellows. Her eyes pitch black... Why?
"M-Melanie! This isn't you!! Stop!!!" I yell.
"This is the new me! Now get out!" She yells back.
"No!" I shout. The aneurysm gets worse and I scream even louder.
"Mommy! Stop. I'm here. Ok? I'm here." Lillian says getting closer to Melanie every second. Mel's head snaps toward Lillian and she stops her eyes going back to normal. Lillian climbs onto her lap and she cuddles into Mel's chest.
"I'm here mommy. I'll always be here. Just be calm." Lillian says. Has she seen this before?
"I'm sorry baby. I promised you that you wouldn't see that side of me again and you did. I'm sorry." Mel says rocking Lillian. So Lillian has seen it before? Who was she doing it to?
"It's fine mommy. You're ok. Thats all that matters." Lillian says and I smile. She acts so grown up.
"Daddy? Are you staying with us?" Lillian asks looking at me.
"Yeah he is baby. Daddy's staying." Mel says. I smile at her and she smiles back.
"Yay! Mommy? I'm tired." Lillian says yawning.
"Go sleep then baby. We'll be here when you wake up." Mel says. Lillian nods and falls to sleep.
"You have one chance Damon. Don't blow it. No drinking. No feeding off humans. No bad behaviour." Mel says sternly.
"I know Melanie. I know. I won't blow it." I say. She smiles at me and carries Lillian upstairs. I follow and I see them cuddled in bed with Mel stroking her hair.
"Can I join?" I ask. Mel nods and I get in on the other side of Lillian so it goes me, Lillian then Melanie. We drift off to sleep.
