The next few weeks went by quicker than Keith expected. He was astonished to say that Lance and him hadn't fought for any of it. They both had done a good job of avoiding each other. Pidge seemed worried about Lance, and Keith was getting annoyed.
"He's fine Pidge! Stop worrying so much!" Keith demanded one day. Pidge had sighed, and glared at Keith.
"You don't get it Keith, Lance is really good at faking a smile!" Pidge insisted.
"Why are you so obsessed with him Pidge?! Are you in love with him or something?" Keith had questioned, jealous. He felt like Lance was stealing his best friend. Pidge had huffed, frustrated.
"For fuck's sake Keith! I'm just worried!" Pidge had yelled.
"Well then stop fucking talking about him 24/7!" Keith had shouted back.
As far as Pidge's new friends went, Keith had to admit that Hunk actually wasn't that bad. He was really nice. Keith still hated Lance though. Just because they weren't fighting didn't mean they were getting along. Keith just realized that if he stayed silent at the study sessions, Lance wouldn't bother him. Lance seemed to have a lot on his mind lately anyway.
As for Kara...she had gained popularity in an instant. She had been asked out three times, and rumors about her had spread from the drama club to the whole school. As for acting, she wasn't the best but she was getting there. Thankfully, she had only been doing blocking for scenes that weren't with Lance. Kara and Lance hadn't talked since the first day. Well...until the balcony scene.
Keith had gone a whole three weeks spending every day after school ignoring Lance McClain. He had to say...he was proud of himself. Yet, of course it couldn't last forever. Ms. Fran had only called Kara and Lance to the rehearsal for the day. She and Pidge sat in the audience as Lance and Keith stood awkwardly on stage.
"So, as you all know we've blocked many scenes to this play. That is, all the scenes except the most important ones with you two. I decided to wait on these scenes that way you two could get adjusted to the theater atmosphere. I want to inform you both, that from now on until tech week, rehearsals will just be with you two, me, and Pidge. This is a judgment free zone, so just corporate with me, and everything will go great! No let's work some theater magic!" Ms. Fran cheered, finishing her speech. Keith felt his pulse going unnecessarily fast. He was sweating, and a nervous buzz flowed over his body.
These were the...romantic scenes. Romantic scenes with the boy he had hated and had been avoiding for weeks. Keith glanced at Lance sheepishly, and saw that Lance was looking right back. The same expression on his face. They both blushed, and looked away. Keith felt his heart jolt. Shit. He needed to stop this.
"Alright Kara, I want you to go upstage. That's where the balcony will be. Will start this scene with you at the top, and Lance at the bottom. Now, can you go ahead and say your first line Lance?" Asked Ms. Fran. Lance blushed, and looked around hesitantly. Which was odd for him, usually he was a great actor. Finally he cleared his throat, and looked out into the audience.
"But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun," he started. Keith zoned out during his whole speech, feeling his heart racing. Finally it was his turn to speak. He couldn't deal with this today.
"Ay me," he said blandly, in a monotone voice. Lance glared, then began to start his next line, but Ms. Fran held up her hand.
"I'm sorry, but this isn't working. Kara, I know your new to acting but you can do better than that! Lance, I can tell you feel uncomfortable, try to just remember that your not Lance McClain. You're Romeo. Maybe that will make you feel more comfortable," Ms. Fran recommended. Lance nodded, determined to do it right. The second time he said his line, it was perfect. Spoken like a true Romeo. It did nothing but annoy Keith.
