"Okay, well...I guess this is it. Have fun on your trip Lance," Keith smiled. Lance gripped his suitcase tight, trying not to shake from nerves.
"Thank you Keith," he said. It had been an adventure getting to the airport, but luckily everything had seemed to go smoothly. Victoria had gotten him his suitcase, and Keith had gotten him to where he needed to be safely and swiftly. The only thing was that Kara was nowhere in sight.
"I wonder where Kara is," Lance commented, looking around.
"Uh, she's usually late to everything. I'm sure she'll be here any minute though. Well uh...Shiro's making breakfast, I don't want to keep him waiting," Keith stuttered.
"Oh right! Of course! Thank you Keith...for everything," Lance smiled. Keith blushed.
"Of course," he told him.
"Well uh, have a good time with Shiro," Lance said. Keith nodded.
"Right, uh...bye," he blurted, not sure what to do. Lance smiled at how awkward Keith was acting. He stepped up closer to him, planting a kiss on his cheek.
"Bye," he whispered back. Keith couldn't move. He didn't want to move. He just wanted to stay here with Lance, feeling the speed of his pulse. Yet he felt his phone ding. It was probably Shiro with his suitcase. He had to get going if he didn't want to miss his flight. Unless...unless he told Lance the truth right now.
"Lance uh..." Keith started. Lance's deep blue eyes looked curiously at him. No. Keith couldn't.
"Bye again," Keith stammered, and at that did his emo, gay speed walk away from the love of his life. Lance giggled as he watched Keith leave.
"Stupid Mullet," he muttered to himself. Then he began to search the crowd for Kara.
"Thank goodness," Keith sighed as he took his suitcase into his hands. Shiro smirked.
"Behave yourself on this trip young man," Shiro said. Keith rolled his eyes.
"Keith I'm serious. Be careful. You don't want to dig yourself a deeper hole," Shiro warned.
"Yeah, yeah," Keith groaned, turning to leave.
"Hey! Don't I get a goodbye!?" Shiro demanded. Keith sighed again turning back around.
"I'll only be gone for like one day," Keith insisted, as he hugged Shiro.
"Okay yeah, but you'll be thousands of miles away!" Shiro explained.
"Whatever, I love you and stuff," Keith mumbled.
"I love you too Keith," Shiro smiled. And at that, Keith was rushing away to the bathrooms. He slid into the men's as quickly as he could, and threw on whatever outfit he pulled out of his suitcase first. Thankfully luck was on his side. He had pulled out a black turtle neck dress. He threw it on, along with the wig. Then he rushed out of the men's bathroom and into the women's, getting a few looks as he went. Once he was in the women's, he braided his hair as fast as he could. Then he did all the makeup Pidge had taught him, knowing he owed her big time. Keith had never been more thankful to Pidge, or his feminine face.
He checked his time, not sure if he would make it. Then he rushed out of the bathroom, sprinting across the airport, until finally he was panting breathlessly in front of Lance.
"Hey," he wheezed. Lance chuckled.
"Breathless to see me?" Lance flirted. Kara rolled her eyes.
"Haha, very funny. Now lead the way to our stupid flight," she insisted. Lance smirked.
"Of course my lady," he grinned.
"Ew stop being such a gentleman!" Kara demanded, as they both found and handed over their tickets.
"I'm just trying to get into character!" Lance admitted.
"Well we have plenty of time to do that," Kara insisted.
Before they knew it they had found their seats. Lance had let Kara have the window seat, which gave Kara a warm glow in her chest. Lance was so caring, how could anyone not love him? Keith scolded himself, he had to be careful.
"So, have you ever rode in an airplane before?" Asked Lance smiling his perfect grin.
"Uh...no," Kara told him, looking out the window. Keith put his AirPods in hoping Lance would take a hint. His AirPods. The same ones that had been in both their ears last night. Last night. They had done...stuff last night. Keith risked a glance at Lance, fidgeting with his black nails. Sure enough, bright blue eyes met him.
"What?!" Kara demanded. Lance blushed.
"Nothing! I'm just...really glad we're going on this trip together! I think it'll be great!" Lance told Kara. Kara rolled her eyes.
"Whatever," she huffed, looking back out the window. Keith was moved as close to the window as he could, trying to hold his body there. He was aware that if he scooted over at all his arm would touch Lance's. He heard Lance ruffling around, and couldn't help but looking back again. Lance looked up at him and smiled.
"Just getting my book," he explained, pulling out Twilight. Keith couldn't help but chuckle. Lance was such a nerd. Of course he read things like Twilight.
"What team?" Keith asked, not being able to help himself. Lance grinned.
"Edward's of course," Lance laughed, obviously extremely glad Kara was finally talking to him. Keith figured chatting about books was perfectly fine. It wasn't like they were making out or anything. As long as Keith was careful, maybe he really could get Kara and Lance to become friends.
"No. Team Jacob all the way," Kara insisted.
"Are you insane?! How could you say that?!" Lance demanded.
"Well first of all...his muscles. Second of all...he's so tan with nice dark hair," Kara explained, glancing at Lance's own skin which resembled Jacob's a little too much.
"Mmmm I prefer pale with yellow eyes," Lance laughed. Kara couldn't help but giggle.
"Okay well have fun reading your cheesy book," Kara said, turning back to the window.
"Hey! Your obviously a fan as well!" Lance insisted.
"Maybe I am," she shrugged. Lance laughed again, opening up his book.
As Lance began to flip through the first pages, the plane began to take off. Keith looked out the window with awe. He wished he could fly.
