Chapter 42

ROSS POV

I sat in 'the cupboard I always fall asleep in' and started breaking down. I buried my head in my knees and just cried to myself for about 20 minutes. I just sat there until I had calmed down and was just about to fall asleep when suddenly, I heard a scream from the bottom the tree house. It was a familiar voice and so I quickly ran down the steps to see Nevaeh.

"Nevaeh? What are you doing here? And Why did you scream?" I asked worried.

" I sort of ran after you when you took off from the beach. I followed you here and saw you were crying. I came back down so you could have some space but got lost so I decided to wait here till you came out. I've been waiting for like 2 hours, and there's a spider down there that seems to come closer to me when I want it to go away" she explained.

She had Arachnophobia and it as really bad. She wasn't jut scared of spiders, but also any other creepy crawlers. Her worst fear was snakes, but other that than that she wasn't scared of anything. I went and picked up the spider with a tissue that was in my pocket, then invited her in since she now already knew about it.

"What is this place? And why is it in the middle of this forest?" She asked sitting down. I offered her a Jaffa-cake and tin of coke then sat next to her.

"What's my worst habit?" I asked her

"Falling asleep in your cupboard" she giggled.

"When I 'fall asleep in my cupboard', I come here because I need time alone, away from my family" I explained truthfully.

"Oh, well it's a really nice place, did you make it?" She asked, scanning the little house again.

"Sort of, we moved here to pursue our dreams, and one night mom and Dad had a really bad argument regarding some tiny issue, and I ran out the house at 11pm and ran into this forest. I got lost here so I walked around for a bit and saw this tree with steps. I climbed up and saw like a little house but it was in very bad shape. I looked around and saw how to get out and drew a little map, so I knew how to get in and out. Then I came home late at night, and kept coming back every few days with scrap material I found in places and slowly rebuilt it." I explained. I got up to get a chocolate digestive and sat down as I continued.

"Soon the whole place was done from the outside, and cleverly hidden by trees and Moss, so I made shelves and stuff.then I brought over food and drinks. I also saved up for an Laptop and bought one secretly and I keep it here, and when it needs charging, I sneak it in with the other stuff in my bag but it has really good battery, and this place has excellent connection and free wifi for some reason reason. I'm still working on chairs though." I said. She nodded her head as she took in all my words.

"I really look up to you Ross, if you want I can leave this place and then forget I ever came here" she asked me

"No, it's ok, sometimes it's nice having someone around when your upset. And you can come here anytime" I said smiling. It was silent for a little, not awkward, but a peaceful calming silence.

"Ross, why were you crying?" She asked me after a while. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to"

"I trust you, and I look up to you too. Do you remember the girl in the 'Without you' video?" She nodded.

"We went out for a really long time, and I really liked her. But one day I saw her in a McDonalds with another guy, in a deep make out session. I sat a few booths away from them, and they seemed to know each other. But the only thing that shocked me was when she said 'don't let Ross see you with me, I'll break up with him soon enough' and he nodded. We had a big fight the next day, and she just said she never like me, and then when I told her to get out of my house, she shouted good riddance and ran off,many the guy was waiting for her outside my house" I said, shuddering. Suddenly the wounds hurt as much as they had that day.
