Friday
The rest of the week passes fairly quickly once I manage to throw off my over-eager partner. I didn't know him well but something in me nagged that we'd met. As in before that night at Aqua when he pissed me off. As if we'd met years and years ago, not that I knew why.
Currently, school had been over a few short hours and I was back at Aqua, covering again for Kourt who asked me pleadingly to take her shift. Saying that she'd 'owe me' and she did. Big time since this was the second shift of hers that I was covering. At least I earn a little extra money, that's a good side note.
I'm still smiling when I hear someone come behind the bar and into the backroom area. Shuffling around in the staff section but not the supply room. The place I'd been sent by Amelia and Hannah when we'd run out of vodka in the main space. Looking up I catch someone giving me a look beyond the counter and see my boss, Shell glance at me with a shake of her head. "There's someone else out there needing to be served when you get back Lo, a young kid who seems a little young but hey, business is business."
"Until you end up shut down for selling to minors Shell," I mumble, feeling some sort of unease at what she said. "Does he look local?"
"Yeah, I've seen him around a fair few times. Not all that often though. Not sure what his deal is but asked for you, not sure why."
"Asked for me?" I ask, confused and temporarily avoiding my current task. Shell nods, coming in to unpack a new shipment. I think for a second before a sour feeling comes and I scowl. "Sure he did. Cabron. estúpido, idiota titulado. jodidamente estúpido... vete a la mierda... estúpido imbécil obsesivo. Jodete estupido. vete a la mierda." scowling I mumble under my breath until I catch Shell watching me and I glance at her with an angry expression. "What?"
She clicks her tongue at me, eyes a little judgy and tone strained."Be nice sugar." she warns as she makes a movement to indicate she's watching me.
Reaching into a box at my feet I pick it up, noticing it's not what I need. Searching through the box I notice none of them are what I need and growl under my breath in anger. Picking up and shoving the bottle box I'm holding onto a shelf not too gently I wait to check I didn't break something before moving away to go back to the bar, calling over my shoulder to her at the same time. "I'm always nice." The tone strained as if she'd insulted me.
Shell gives me a laugh, her next words making me stop. "Really nice, not bitchy nice." Her tone is that of warning and I sigh, knowing how I can be, especially with customers who think they can boss me around or be inappropriate. Or are like him and piss me off to no end. "Be nice Lo, honestly nice not false nice."
I sigh and roll my eyes, stopping to look at her with a glare. "You're tying my hands but fine," I grumble, keeping moving. Behind me, Shell laughs as if she knows what I mean, but I don't turn back. I Need all the tips I can get before clocking out in a few - half an hour. "Sorry I was gone so long, there wasn't another bottle."
Amelia frowns, "I'm sure there was one left, hold the bar for a while with Hannah while I look." I nod as she leaves, getting as far as the door before turning back to me to shout over the noise of patrons and the jukebox in the back. "OH, AND DO ME A FAVOUR?! SERVE THE GUY AT THE END WHO ASKED FOR YOU. WON'T TAKE ANYONE ELSE."
I snort a laugh and roll my eyes, "Course he isn't," I mumble darkly, already thinking I know who's stalking me. Realising that Amelia's still jumping up and down I nod and shout back to her. "SURE JUST HOPE HE DOESN'T ASK FOR VODKA BEFORE YOU GET BACK!"
She laughs and vanishes, the sound swallowed up by the humid, sticky air in here. Next to me, Hannah laughs as she shakes cocktails in her hands, the silver colour causing flashes to blind me for a second where I still hadn't eaten today. Or the last few days that much I think with a pang of hunger. It wasn't ideal but until we made some more money between us Luc and I were going without so Ky didn't suffer. Hopefully not for much longer, I muse as I catch Hannah watching the person Amelia asked me to serve.
