This story was supposed to be completely different. About how Laurent protects Larry. But I re-read our correspondence with you @lestwinson101, and it gave me a sudden thought. The plot came out of nowhere. I seem to have rekindled my favorite "Written on the Knee" column since I wrote this chapter in less than an hour and a half. The plot is a little chaotic, I'm not even sure that you will correctly understand what I want to say. But this roughly shows how I see them.

Laurent sat up abruptly in bed. His body shuddered, his skin unpleasantly cooled by the air from the half-open window. The chest rose and fell rapidly, following the panic work of the lungs, the heart shrunk into a ball and seemed not going to return to normal size. He rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out where he was and how much sleep he had. If it could even be called a dream. With a loud moan, Law fell back onto the bed, feeling with every inch of his body how wet the bed was from his sweat. He's having nightmares again. Larry was always frightened when Laurent had nightmares, because the twin never screamed, sometimes muffled moaning, his body arched unnaturally indulging in terrible dreams. But now Larry was not around because he was staying at their mom's house. Laurent has been sleeping in an apartment in Paris for several weeks now. But even if Larry had been with him, in the next room, he still wouldn't have felt it. Laurent was able to suppress this part of their connection when Larry could feel his nightmares.

Laurent has been ignoring the twin for weeks now. At the level of communication with their friends, family, and colleagues, everything remained the same, he sat next to the twin, allowed his food to be stolen, joked about Larry, and joked about Larry. But Larry knew for certain that Laurent had pulled away from him. There were no more long glances, no more fleeting touches, no more of those little moments when they communicated without words with only glances and touches. Larry knew for certain that Laurent was hiding something.

Almost everyone around is firmly convinced that Larry never fights for Laurent and that he does not stand up for him, especially in public. Larry just rolled his eyes. Yes, he was possessive when it came to Laurent, he wanted the twin's attention to be his own. Yes, he wanted Laurent to take care of him so reverently, follow his every move, and many other stupid and very petty things that made him a bit of an asshole. But Larry knew perfectly well and absolutely that Laurent was fine with all these things. They were never alone, there were always two of them, no matter what happened between them, if a tricky situation arose, it didn't matter how much they were angry with each other. Yes, Larry seemed more open and sincere, he gave more love to the fans, he is more energetic and carefree, while Laurent is more collected.

Everyone always discussed how Laurent shows attention to Larry, and how Laurent protects him when he doesn't do it for Laurent.

But no one knew that Larry was protecting Laurent from himself. No one admits the thought that it is possible to protect someone not only from external threats. Sometimes the enemy hides in us.

Laurent's nightmares were never just nightmares. This is a long process that exhausts the soul and body at night. Sometimes Larry would stay awake for several nights in a row, hugging the twin's endlessly shuddering and shaking body. He whispered all sorts of nonsense to him, sang stupid songs, stroked his back and head, and touched his face with his lips in vain attempts to at least a little pacify the agony. But the worst thing was when Laurent woke up, no, came to his senses. It took him a few seconds to realize, and then he sobbed silently, wrapping himself in his twin. No one knew where these nightmares came from, this agony, but it always affected the two of them. And Laurent started to drift away from Larry on those days. Especially when Larry had good days when he wasn't stressed, pressured, or questioned about his importance in his twin's life.
