This short story is rather long—almost three thousand words—but it's still pretty bad, clumsy, and sometimes not very good. But I was able to write at least part of what was spinning in my head. Read, enjoy, and say what you think in the comments. Even if you don't like it, I want to know. Love you!
...Larry did that often. He said what he didn't mean. Because the only thing that nature has deprived him of is the filter between his head and mouth. If Larry enters a certain emotional state, he will say a lot of things that he did not mean. Moreover, he will regret that he uttered every offensive word the moment he stops speaking. And what he says won't make any difference. Never. This will be an emotional reaction. Protecting his beliefs, even if they are not true and can harm him, he knows this very well.
This is information about Larry that only Laurent knew. Even their family still hasn't figured out how Larry's brain works.
For a long time, they sincerely believed that Larry did not love his twin, and after a trifling quarrel, which was not even a quarrel, Laurent was sent to another country. This was done under a hypocritical pretext to help the twins understand their relationship with each other. But Laurent was returned at the same moment when Larry almost committed suicide due to the absence of his twin.
Larry loved his brother more than anyone could imagine. Even more, than I realized myself. They had no personal space or personal belongings. Hell, they had to learn to be different personalities because they were too connected. With dependent on each other. They felt their connection in different ways, but they always felt it.
Laurent is calmer and more prudent, and Larry is a daredevil, he always has a couple of seconds difference between word or thought and deed. In all conflict situations, Laurent spoke first, Larry was never allowed to open his mouth if the matter could be settled with a word. Laurent was in charge. One raise of Laurent's eyebrow soothed Larry. Laurent was always in an emotional connection, he was more sensitive to the emotions and feelings of his twin, he depended on them and tried to control or take a part of himself if it was something negative, or too painful. Larry, on the contrary, somehow felt Laurent himself, his mood, physical condition, and, what is the strangest of the list, Laurent's hunger.
They were together all the time and danced together. They felt each other beyond the limits of the possible. When they choreographed, always one started and the other continued. If these were battles with other dancers, it was always difficult for them to keep their connection, she rushed out demanding to join and fully synchronize. It took both Larry and Laurent great efforts to restrain themselves and not succumb to this connection. They tried never to communicate mentally. It didn't seem like a conversation, just a complete understanding of what the other was thinking. They only used their mental connection a few times, and it was always difficult for them.
Laurent knew one secret, Larry, from their point of view, a rather dirty secret. A terrible secret that gave Laurent complete power over Larry, but he never used it. This secret was not public. The twins never talked about him, they pretended that he did not exist. But he was. Always in between. Laurent could disconnect from their connection as if adding Larry to the blacklist of his mental contacts. And it was dirty because he felt Larry, but Larry was not. Larry felt like he was alone, alone, and abandoned. They learned about this ability of Laurent in high school when they quarreled quite strongly and Larry's feelings prevented Laurent from being angry with his twin and after several minutes of diligent meditation in his head and feelings it became "quiet". That day, until the evening, I sat in the park, reading a book, and when I came home, I got into a real drama, where Larry fought in hysterical panic for several hours and could not explain to anyone from the family what was wrong with Laurent. And when Larry saw the twin, there were more tears, Larry hung on his brother at all not wanting to let him go anywhere. The fact that Laurent could do this scared the hell out of Larry, so he made the twin swear that he would never "disconnect" from Larry without a really good reason. And Laurent has kept this promise until today. Until Larry accidentally once again puts Laurent at the very bottom of the list of people he cares about. As usual, he meant something completely different. But Laurent Millet was tired of this lie that Larry told everyone around. This time Larry was influenced by Melissa. This woman sincerely thought that Larry was putting her ahead of his twin and was insanely proud of it. Like now. When Larry went shopping with her, instead of staying with the twins to deal with business and his purchases. But she didn't know the truth. A truth that Larry hadn't even thought about. Laurent didn't mind if Larry spent time with Melissa. Laurent had personal affairs today, a beauty salon, a hairdresser, a couple of boutiques, and another date in the evening. In addition, he and Larry were a little tired of each other, I wanted to be a little apart, to listen only to my voice in my head, and not to blowing voices.
But after the evening apart, everything went awry. Larry began to often snap at Laurent, argue with him, and at least somehow contact him. And to be honest, Laurent got tired of Larry's shit for so many years. Tired of being a whipping pillow if his brother is in a bad mood. Laurent was driven to the brink by such an attitude of his brother. And he wanted to teach him a lesson.
