Beatrice tried to disappear into her room as quickly as possible without being seen. She wasn't in the mood to think up where she was and what happened to her. Beatrice had always been good at making up excuses, stories camouflage, oh just a lot it was quite difficult for her.
It was just as difficult for her to see the situation positively. What good did it do her if Ava was back, but no longer embodied the same and everything Beatrice didn't like? Even though she was back, Bea missed her Ava more than ever."Beatrice!"
Camila's screeching echoed through the corridor. That's it with sneaking inconspicuously into her room. She had absolutely no nerve to talk about the last twenty-four hours, so she quickened her pace.
"Beatrice! Wait!"
Reluctantly, Bea stopped and waited for Camila to catch up with her. However, she did not stop behind her as expected, but ran around Beatrice once. When she saw the burst lip, some lacerations and the bruises on her face, the little nun inhaled in shock.
"What happened to you?"
"Camila, I really don't want to talk about it."
"When others see you, you will have no choice. You were suddenly gone and we were looking for you everywhere."
"I'm fine."
"As you run, you have multiple bruises and maybe even a few broken ribs. You should let me take a closer look."
"No need. I'll just lie down for a while and rest."
"Good, but tomorrow you'll come to me and we'll take care of it all right. Then you should go to Mother Superior, for days she has been talking about nothing but your education."
"All right."
That ended the conversation and Beatrice made her way back to her room. Once there, she closed the door behind her and leaned her back against it. It seemed as if all the exhaustion of the last few months was now coming together. Nevertheless, she overcame herself to go into the small bathroom and take a shower. But before Bea could stand under the warm stream of water, she had to get out of her uniform. With pain, she peeled herself out of the tight-fitting fabric. Now was also the first time that Bea could not only feel her injuries, but also see them. Several bruises stretched across her chest and abdomen. It almost looked worse than it felt and that was hard to achieve. The face in the mirror had some bruises and dark circles deeper than the Mariana Trench. In short, Beatrice looked as shitty as she felt. When warm water hit her skin, a long moan escaped her. At every open place it burned, in contact with water. Still, it was the most pleasant thing she had felt in days. All muscles were tense thanks to the uncomfortable naps in the warehouse. Since a massage probably broke more than would have helped, the shower was a real miracle. She would have liked to share this feeling with Ava. Of course, she was a nun and should not have such thoughts, but when imagining a future together, thoughts like this also came. In the Alps, she had often found alternatives to just sleeping next to each other. At that time they were not as far along as they are today. Although today they had taken steps backwards again. So many times Bea had imagined all sorts of scenarios of what her reunion with Ava would be like, but this one wasn't there. Tired and exhausted, but freshly showered, she fell into her bed and fell asleep immediately.
"Beatrice. Beatrice. Beatrice!"
Someone shook her like crazy. The pain in her upper body made Bea's eyes open in shock and immediately stared into Camila's face. At the foot of the bed stood Mother Superior, also with a skillful expression. It was already light, which meant she had overslept.
"Thank God! We thought you were dead."
"Why should I? What happened?"
"We missed you at breakfast and Camila told me you came back injured yesterday."
