It almost broke Ava's heart as she watched Beatrice limp to the gate. Ava had gotten to know Bea pretty well during their time together and knew how hard it must have been for her to let her go. It was just as difficult for her to leave Beatrice in the dark and not be able to open up completely to her. Time and space are a complicated construct that no one will ever fully understand. She became painfully aware of this during her time on the other side. She had never stopped missing Beatrice, only her fucus changed from the one left behind to the one ahead. Even if no one knew it yet, Ava's role will be an important one in the play of time on earth for the next few months. Reya wasn't the only one who prepared her for this. It felt like ages until Ava could really understand and remember everything. Every day there were new lessons she had to learn, not only theoretical knowledge, but also pain. You could have called it torture, what one of them had done to her. Times when she regretted, had chosen to go through the portal instead of dying in Bea's arms. Ava's boundaries were pushed physically and mentally. Not only did her steadfastness in the face of pain become stronger, but her abilities with the halo also became more and better. She was also shown the possibility to control her own feelings. Surely Ava knew that it was not entirely the right way, but it was necessary every day to stop her own thoughts and feelings. It had always worked out well, except for the situation in which Beatrice was involved. She was not only changing and revolutionizing her world, but also the other. Before she had more and more contact with it, Ava always saw it as something negative and a burden that she was chosen for the next Warrior Now. Bea had often said how special she was and Ava had never really believed it. How? The family lost, left paralyzed, murdered and drawn to war never sounded like anything desirable. But all these experiences made it possible for her to understand almost every one of the worlds and that made her a key figir. Speaking of keys. The whole trip to Rome to the Vatican, still under construction, Ava had alternated between several stolen cars. The time to attract attention had not yet come. Now she was standing in front of a small apartment that she had stumbled upon by chance. When the lock finally popped open, she quietly entered the first large room. Since the space had been empty for quite some time, it was no surprise that everything was covered with a layer of dust. Furniture was dated but still in good condition. In itself, this apartment was very reminiscent of the one in the Alps, where she had been with Beatrice for a while. This time, however, she had less clothes and more other things with her. In the warehouse she had hidden a large box in which she kept all the information she had collected. The time when she inquired about the current situation was over, now Ava had to think of a way to best implement the mission. After all, she couldn't just walk through the Vatican door and turn everything upside down. She spent about three weeks crafting a plan to follow, but no matter how Ava twisted and turned, she needed help. Earlier than expected. That of the OCS. When she thought about it, she missed her sisters more than Ava would admit. Camila's funny nature, Yasmine's thirst for knowledge, Dora's optimism and Mother Superior's care. But above all, Beatrice. Despite all her efforts, Ava could not leave it as they had parted. A few times she gave in to the need to give herself the edge with alcohol. The disadvantage that she could never get drunk thanks to the halo, unfortunately missed the desired result with a bottle of vodka. Although it wasn't really possible, she looked like a demon. The halo could compensate for many things, but not the lack of sleep and hide the deep dark circles under her eyes. The whole training on the other side for control seemed to be forgotten. Every time she tried to sleep, Ava had images from Switzerland and the injured Beatrice in her head. This awakened her incentive to let everything run as smoothly as possible. Because one thing was certain, it would always be dangerous. Now she had to focus on the beginning again. There was no time to commute back and forth between Spain a hundred times, so everyone from the OCS had to come to her. Luckily for her, Ava had already suspected something like this and stole Beatrice's communication chain from her while she was sleeping. As wrong as it was, it was necessary. It wasn't nearly as complicated to figure out how it worked. An old version of Morse code. Without letting any more time pass, she sent her message and prepared everything for the arrival of the nuns.
