A restlessness dominated her body. On the outside, calm as always and looking straight ahead, Suzanne stood in front of the window and watched two birds on a tree. She couldn't help but think of Ava and Beatrice. She was worried. Something told her that something was very wrong. Determined to get to the bottom of the feeling, she turned away from the glass and sought out Dora at her headquarters.
"Mother Superior. Is there anything I can do for you?" Dora asked as Suzanne entered the room.
"Indeed. Have you heard anything new from Ava and Beatrice?"
"No. The last message I received was from Camila and Yasmine. They have arrived at the Order. Does it have a reason for your demand?"
"I'm not sure. A strange feeling tells me that something is wrong. Normally I don't pay much attention to it, but I've learned to listen to it more often and trust it."
Dora put down the computer mouse and gave it all her attention.
"What do you think could trigger this feeling?"
"Like I said, I'm not sure."
"Everything will be fine. The two are excellent warrior nuns and Ava the halo bearer. I'm sure they'll be fine."
That's how much Suzanne hoped Dora would be right.
"How far along are you with the video recordings?"
A few hours ago, she had given her the task of sifting through all the video footage and finding excerpts from the fight against the mysterious opponent. At the place where her nuns met the man, there were no records. All security cameras in the area were down. Therefore, they search on social media. Perhaps civilization had taken pictures and videos and shared them on the Internet. It was worth the try: this way they could get a better picture of its strength and generate one or two important advantages. Unfortunately, Dora wasn't as talented at the keyboard as Camila, so this process took more time than usual.
"Not even close to finishing. That's several hours and over a hundred different sources to sift through during the period. It's going to take a while."
Disappointed and annoyed, Mother Superior exhaled audibly loudly.
"Then we still don't have any information about him."
"That's not quite correct," Dora objected.
"We don't have any other information than what our sisters were able to gather in a battle," Mother Superior corrected herself.
The whole situation was not as easy as they would like. In an inferior fight, you don't have the time to look at everything closely and in detail, observe and memorize it. So you couldn't be sure that everyone was true about what Lilith and the others had observed.
"It can't be that we can't find anything. There must be a record of him somewhere, or something that helps us."
"Could there be a possibility that we will find something in the library of the Vatican? It is the greatest for Christian writings," Dora asked.
That was it! As if obsessed, Suzanne got up and hurried to her pragmatic office. Somewhere she had read something about it. Because if Dora and her clever book are right, then they could really find something in this library. They were in Rome. Where, if not here, could they find answers to their questions?
Dora had apparently followed her. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Dora watching her rummage through her papers. "What are you looking for?"
"Found!" Triumphantly, she lifted the little book upwards.
She quickly opened the right page and read again. That was it.
"Dora, I think we're breaking into the Vatican."
Surprised, Dora just looked at her.
"Are you sure? The suggestion was actually meant more as a joke."
"But I'm serious. We can't just sit here for days while the others are productive. Browse through thousands of videos that may not have anything useful in them."
"What exactly are you up to?"
"We are breaking into the Vatican."
So it was a done deal. Dora left her room and got ready. Only two who are taking the risk. What was a life without risk? In the past, Suzanne had already carried out more demanding missions on her own and made it. She just had to be prepared and work out a good plan. Just as she was going through her notes on the Vatican, a strange noise behind her caught her attention. Suzanne slowly turned around and was promptly startled when Lilith suddenly stood there.
"Lilith! I'm dropping dead one day because of you."
"Sorry, Mother Superior."
"What are you doing here?" Suzanne asked, when her pulse had calmed down again.
"I have something to do here before I go to see my mother."
"Your mother? She was a nun of the OCS for a long time, and she can certainly help us in this war."
"That was also my intention. What's being planned here?"
"We want to visit the library of the Vatican."
"Visit? How can I help?" Lilith asked interestedly.
"The decision to do so was less than half an hour ago, Lilith. We plan our approach to reduce the risk in the best possible way. That's what you can help with at the moment. "
However, Lilith did not move a centimeter. She suddenly stood stiff and stared into space. A second later, she turned away and disappeared with her teleportation abilities.
"Where has she gone?" Susanne asked herself aloud.
Despite Lilith's strange behavior, she was not deterred for long and went to Dora to clarify some things. However, as soon as she stepped through the door, there were restless mutes and quick footsteps to be heard in a few corridors away. Alarmed, she exchanged a glance with Dora before they both walked in the direction of the sounds, ready for battle. However, they didn't met any intruders there, as expected, but Lilith, Ava and Beatrice. Immediately, they both saw that something was wrong.
"What happened?" Suzanne asked Ava, who was completely in tears.
Lilith carried Beatrice in her arms, she was completely smeared with blood and unconscious. Or maybe dead?
