At first, completely overwhelmed by the situation, Beatrice froze for a second, but quickly caught herself again. Ava's body began to convulse and she screamed that it almost broke Bea's heart to see her like this. With a lot of effort, she pressed Ava's arms and legs onto the mat before she hit and injured herself. Camila quickly came to her aid and knelt opposite her on Ava's other side. Then, suddenly, she stopped screaming, and all her muscles went limp under Beatrice's hands. A very nasty feeling immediately spread through her and she groped for Ava's heartbeat with two fingers. More and more panicked, she moved her fingers over her neck and desperately searched for a pulse, when she couldn't find one, Bea immediately leaned over her face to hear if she was still breathing at all. Nothing.

"She's not breathing anymore!"

No sooner had she uttered the words than she automatically began to resuscitate. Beatrice had to pull herself together. The one under her hands was not the love of her life, but a sister who desperately needed help. If she didn't see it that way, she would certainly freak out and lose her composure completely. There is no way that would do Ava any good.

"What's going on here?!"

When Beatrice looked up briefly from Ava's lifeless body, Mother Superior stood pale in the doorway. She stopped the chest compressions and ventilated her again. Camila stepped in for her with pushing and gave her a short pause to answer the question.

"I don't know. She started screaming and convulsing all of a sudden, until now she has a cardiac arrest."

It cost Beatrice everything not to lose her nerves. Why couldn't everything just be fine for a while and no one could die or be on the verge of it. When Camilla was finished, Bea gave her air again and relieved her again. She would have loved to have other circumstances where her lips would touch Ava's, but now she was struggling to make sure that there would be moments like this again. With every time Bea pressed on Ava's torso and did nothing, her despair grew. The first tear made its way down her cheek.

"Come on, Ava! You can't die! Not after everything we've been through! You can't leave me alone! Damn Ava!"

Each time she squeezed harder and the tears grew more and more.

"How long has she been in this state?" asked Mother Superior.

"About ten minutes," Camila replied.

Ten minutes?! It felt much shorter for Beatrice. Which didn't really make sense, since every second in which Ava's heart wasn't beating was too long.

"Beatrice. I think we should let her go."

"No way!"

Horrified by the proposal, she continues.

"Beatrice! Let her go!"

This time it was not Mother Superior who said it, but Lilith.

"No."

Determined not to stop, she tried to tear herself away from Lilith, who tried to stop her. After a scuffle, Beatrice finally gave up and began to cry violently.

"No! Ava!"

Sobbing, she rested her head on Ava's chest and snuggled up to her still warm body. With every second that there should be a strong knock under her ear, the realization grew. Ava was dead. Beatrice had lost her.

"It's all my fault."

"It's not. We should have stopped het from doing that too," Camila said in a croaking voice.

"What's the lot going on...?"

Unsuspectingly, Yasmine entered the room. Screaming, she put her hands over her mouth when she understood what was happening. Also crying, she finally buried her face in Camila's shoulder. For a while, Beatrice had noticed how familiar the two had seemed lately.

However, that didn't matter at the time. Overwhelmed by the flood of emotions, Bea closed her eyes and enjoyed Ava's distinctive smell for the last time.

"I love you," Beatrice whispered so softly that the others didn't hear. They didn't have to, it was only Ava. Suddenly, the chest on which she was lying lifted and a heartbeat sounded under her ear. Alarmed, she opened her eyes.

"What's the matter?" Lilith asked, surprised.

She immediately groped for Ava's pulse and listened to the sound of her breathing. When she felt a strong pounding under her finger, she exhaled with relief and sank her forehead on Ava's chest, which was now full of life again.

"She's alive."

She didn't say it out loud, but the others could still hear it. Lots of relieved reactions came from everyone.

"We need to make sure that this doesn't happen again and monitor them better."

Camila was right. This should never happen again.

"I'll call Jillian right away. We need her help and medical equipment," she continued.

"I saw some kind of infirmary in the building. I could get it ready until she arrives with the equipment." Lilith offered and. then immediately pay attention to the work.

Everyone immediately swarmed out and worked to build the right place for Ava. Beatrice, however, stayed exactly where she was, with Ava. As relieved as she was to see Ava breathe, the fear of her heart could stop at any time was great, as were the worries. There simply wasn't a world left for her where Ava didn't appear in it. No stone would leave her unturned so that she could remain a part of her life forever. Even though much was necessary for this realization, but this was Ava: a part of her life. Beatrice loved her and now understood through all this that she couldn't care if people accepted her love. For too long, she had been hiding herself and denying her feelings to others. That was the end of it. Life was too short and Bea didn't want to waste a minute of it.
