Beatrice just couldn't help but watch Ava. She constantly had the feeling that she had to protect her, which was not really necessary. Ava is strong and can take good care of herself, but makes the wrong decisions every now and then. Bea massaged her temples. More and more came to what she was thinking about. It felt like her head was overflowing with thoughts, questions, and worries. Now, all of a sudden, she could see demons, Ava riding a motorcycle, and presumably knitting God. Crazy times, Beatrice couldn't name it any other way. The first rays of sunshine shone through the dirty window and made Ava's hair shine. Even though they were still dusty from last night, Beatrice just fell in love with her again. Slowly, Ava opened her eyes and looked at her.

"You know it's a little creepy to be watched like that."

"Oh really?"

"Bea, seriously. Is everything alright?"

Beatrice sighed long and intensely. Everything was certainly not fine, but better. No matter what happened, it seemed that with each passing day, with every action and every conversation, more and more questions would arise than could be answered.

"Where did you learn to ride a motorcycle like that?"

"Didn't you know? God also has a driving school. Not all angels can fly."

Ava didn't grimace and said it so dry that Bea would have bought it from her if she hadn't just started laughing.

"You should have seen your face, Bea."

Now Beatrice had to laugh too. Nothing in the world was better than having Ava lying next to her, laughing. When they both caught their breath, Ave tried to answer again composedly.

"When I was on the road, I came across a group of bikers. A very nice young man taught me."

"And where did you get the bike from? Don't tell me stolen."

"It's not just any bike, it's a Husqvarna FS 450. I got it as a gift from a nice woman after I rescued her cat. I'm not sure anymore, but I think her name was Sharon. An attractive Italian woman."

"Ava."

Beatrice raised an eyebrow in warning.

"I'd like to say it was a joke, but then I'd be lying. Don't worry. My heart and everything that surrounds it is yours. Only you."

"I hope so, too."

For a moment, they just remained silent and enjoyed the moment. Until Ava sat up and looked at her seriously.

"You said you can see demons. It's been on my mind all night."

Beatrice as well. During the time she stared into the darkness, she made all sorts of guesses as to why it could be. None of them were plausible enough.

"Do you have any idea why?"

"No. But I know who might have one."

"Reya."

With as much dislike in her voice as she felt, she pronounced this name. Specifically, Bea had no problem with her, only with what she had done to Ava there in the other world. Ava also seemed to understand this and therefore just nodded and didn't ask.

"Will you ever tell me everything that happened to you there?"

A question that had been burning on her soul for too long and had not yet found the courage to ask. The fear of the possible answer was too great. Until now.

"I promised to be honest and the most honest thing I can tell you is that I don't know. A lot of things are difficult to understand and comprehend if you haven't been there yourself."

Ava didn't look at her, just stared at her hands folded in her lap. Bea knew all too well that it wasn't a lack of trust that was holding Ava back. Still, it hurt.

"Do you remember how you taught me how to write and it took me weeks to get a legible sentence? You took so much time, helped me and taught me so much. We also tried to play the piano. It didn't work out as planned, but I enjoyed every second you played."

Ava looked at her with a warm smile. Beatrice had to smile when she had to think back to it. No matter how many times she had repeated it and explained it, each time Ava had been playful or extremely rough hammering on the keys. It had been great fun.

"Yes. It was really a great time in the Alps."

"The karaoke night was the best."

"Oh no, certainly not. I had to sing while you got drunk and I held your hair back half the night."

"You're right. The part of the evening was not so nice. You sang three songs and I fell in love with you even more after the first one. However, I had great doubts and fears about how you would react if you knew. The tequila helped me think. There are a few things I can't remember, but I can remember every single second I was with you and listened to you sing."

Beatrice was able to remember it all the more precisely. This evening was a good example of "as in good times and in bad". Having fun and then taking care of Ava had been incredible. The usually strong warrior nun sat on the ground in front of her and was more like a heap of misery than someone who was destined to save the world.

"What are we doing about yesterday? Look at the chaos and cover your tracks. What then?"

With a groan, Ava stood up and was still a bit wobbly on her feet.

"We have a big advantage. You can see demons, maybe more. Something like yesterday was a trifle when I compare it to what lies ahead."

"Speaking of more. Your powers. How did you manage to train her like that?"

"I've always had it to this extent, but I just didn't know about it and didn't use it. They showed me a lot. Among other things, what the former warrior nuns did. I can use it as a shield, make myself invisible, and more."

"I've always known you're stronger than you think."

Looking at each other with that love and renewed trust felt great.

"I now have some experience with submersion and behave inconspicuously. Do you think it's very noticeable, because suddenly a warehouse is missing in the city center?"

"The explosion alone has attracted enough attention. We need to be more careful."

Beatrice noticed how nervously Ava jumped from one leg to the other.

"Bea, can I ask you something?"

She nodded.

"Do we have to be more careful with ourselves, or is there a us at all?"

A difficult question that Beatrice did not want to deal with at the moment. Everything should just be a little more stable before it collapsed.

"Ava, I love you, but I want to take it slow. Don't rush things and accidentally break them again. I want even more trust and stability. But I don't want to hide anything from our friends. But for the protection of both of us, the outside world does."

"Sounds good to me. Let's let go before Camila organizes another search party."

With a kiss on Beatrice's cheek, Ava walked ahead through the door. Relieved, she exhaled and followed her.
