With a loud bang, Ava slammed the car door shut and promptly got an angry look from Beatrice.

"Ava, this is not a tank and not made for war."

"War? What do you think is going to happen here?"

With a loud laugh, she backed up Beatrice's funny statement. But her laughter died away when Bea put on a serious face and furrowed her eyebrows. Ava turned mmm and saw that the person behind her was the reason for this.

"Sharon".

"Ava."

They greet each other with a short hug before Sharon turns to Beatrice. She stood skeptically with her arms crossed in front of her chest, still in the same place.

"Sharon, this is Beatrice. Beatrice, Sharon," Ava introduced the two of them to each other.

"Hello," Beatrice said and quickly removed her hand from the handshake.

"She's exactly as you described her," Sharon joked, pointing to Bea.

"Yes, it's just the way it is. Unobtrusive and simply the best." Smiling, she looked at Beatrice, who was also smiling a little.

"If you don't mind, we can also do the getting-to-know-you session indoors. It's cooler there," Sharon interjected, pointing in the direction of her house.

Nodding, they followed her.

"I know we're all not very big, but how can she ride the bikes when they're all as big as the one she gave you?" Bea whispered in her ear as she walked.

She couldn't help but start laughing. Sharon then turned around in amazement.

"Size has never played a role. You'll find ways and means if you really want to. Besides, there are even smaller ones."

"Smaller than me?" Sharon asked. "I don't think so. But even with my size, I could beat your ass."

"Mine?" Beatrice and pointed questioningly at her chest.

"You'd better not give her ideas."  Ava quickly introduced herself to Bea as a precaution. "No matter how tall you are, you don't stand a chance against her. Trust me."

After this was clarified, they stepped closer to the entrance of the house, where the nice cat was already waiting for them.

Beatrice and Sharon watched her cuddle her.

"Bea, you never guess the name."

Knowing full well, Ava grinned broadly before she sat down next to the cat and sat it on her lap.

"I'm not very good at Italian, so I don't think I'll guess it."

"You're on the wrong track." Ava puffed.

"It's German," Sharon gave a tip.

Ava could see Beatrice slowly losing patience. Guessing games had never been her thing.

"I can't speak German. Ava, you're the one who speaks this language," Beatrice nagged as expected.

"Don't worry, you know the name," Ava tried in vain to motivate her.

Sharon also seemed to notice that Bea didn't feel like it anymore and broke up. "The name is Heisenberg."

For a moment, Ava didn't know how Beatrice reacted. Her gaze was impenetrable and impossible to interpret. She herself had to hold back with all her efforts so as not to laugh out loud. Then, finally, a smile stole onto Bea's lips.

"Not seriously?"

"Yes," Sharon confirmed, and began to laugh as well.

When they had all slowly calmed down and sat at the table, things got serious again.

"I guess you're not visiting me just because you longed for me."

"Certainly not," Bea muttered to herself, barely audible.

"Of course I missed you. I owe you a big thank you for the bike."

"Please tell me it's fine."

"Not really," Beatrice replied before Ava could open her mouth. "A building and a roof collapsed on it. But it's still working."

Sharon's facial features derailed when she heard what had happened to her poor motorcycle.

"Now hopefully you're kidding me. Right?"

"No. I'm sorry. She's telling the truth." Ava tried to cheer her up something with a light hug.  "But the bike still rides like it did on the first day. Just has a few more scratches."

Sharon, with her nerves at her wit's end, laid her head on the table.

"You have helped me with the bike more than you can imagine and I am eternally grateful to you for that. Still, I, or we, have to help you again mmm help mordido."

Ava tried to bring the best combination of empathy and seriousness to her voice. Apparently it worked, then Sharon's head and didn't look changed or anything like that.

"Please tell me, you don't need another motorcycle," she joked.

"No," Beatrice interfered again. "We need you as an ambassador and as an ally to turn the world upside down and save it with us."

Sharon began to laugh.

"Is this a joke?"

"As much as I like jokes, it's none. Bea is right."

"Bea." slowly, she repeated the name of the woman Ava loved so much. "You haven't even told me how things stand between the two of you."

Somewhat surprised by the sudden change of subject, Ava just looked at her puzzled, unable to answer anything.

"Are you serious? We just asked you a serious question and want to involve you in something big, but your concern is for our understanding of each other?" Beatrice asked sharply.

"Um... yes?"

"Unbelievable."

Beatrice got up and stood behind her chair. She leaned on the legend with one hand while rubbing her nose with the other.

"It's not easy. It never was and will never be. But we try to get closer to each other every day and resolve conflicts quickly," Ava explained

"Does that mean you did it?" Sharon asked curiously.

"Yes, I think so for now."

Immediately after uttering the words, Ava realized that she had said the wrong thing. Beatrice noticed it right away and looked at her with a piercing look. That would certainly be discussed again.

"I'm happy for you. Honest. Especially after it doesn't work for me anymore."

Ava listened.

"Oh no. Sharon, I'm sorry about that."

"It's okay. I get along and that's what counts. But what is more important here, what exactly do you need my help for?"

"No, wait a minute. I would like to know more. After you know so much about me and Ava and I don't know anything about you yet."

Ever since they arrived, Beatrice displayed a tense and rude attitude that Ava simply had to intervene.

"Bea! It's enough."

Frustrated, she stepped back from her chair with a sigh and shoved her hands into her pockets. To Ava, she looked like an offended kid who had just received a shot.

"As I said, we need your support to make the world a safer place and turn it upside down," Ava continued the original conversation.

The conversation went pretty well after this short argument that Ava and Beatrice were able to say goodbye and continue their journey. With a rum, she closed her car door again and waited for Beatrice to drive off. But she kept the key in her hand and had the reproachful look.

"What? It went quite okay. Of course, it would have been better..."

"That's not what I mean," Bea interrupted. "This is still a car and not a tank. So would you please close the doors with a little more tact?"

Laughing, Ava nodded. Her partner was just amazing.
