As this is a Peaky Blinders book, I thought it was only right to start with Tommy. Hope you enjoy.
Ollie opened the door to Alfie's office. The three oldest Shelby boys making their way into the room.
"Alfie............."
"Shalom, Thomas........Arfur.........John...........All three of you?........To what do I own this pleasure?" Alfie asked, as he looked up from the paperwork on his desk and gestured for the two oldest men to take a seat across from him. John staying in the background and leaning against the side of the door.
"Serious business............." Came Tommy's usual short reply, as he reached into his inside jacket pocket and pulled out his cigarette case. Slowly tapping one of the cigarettes on the outside of the shiny container, before placing it between his lips and lighting it.
"Ah yes...........how could I forget........." Alfie sniffed in reply, as he removed his glasses and leaned back in his chair.
>>----------------------------------<<
The meeting had been going as a usual meeting between Alfie and Tommy would. The usual subtle and not so subtle sarcastic comments and threats being thrown across the table as they discussed what they needed to. Arthur feeling like he was watching some kind of verbal tennis match and John getting the feeling that he was surplus to requirements. Both of them hoping that they could get out of there soon and find themselves a drink.
Suddenly the conversation stopped, as the door to the office was opened with without a knock. The three Shelby brothers turning to see a figure, that was most certainly not Ollie standing in the doorway. Their eyes growing wide, as in walked a woman, a woman that none of the trio had ever seen before; the Shelby boys sure if they had, they would definitely remember her. Now normally, they would wait for Alfie to start shouting at being interrupted by the woman that dared to walk into his office without a by your leave. Yet as she made her way into the room, the London gangster simply smiled as she moved to his side, Alfie taking her hand and kissing it softly.
Tommy couldn't help but stare. Couldn't help but feel his usually calm heart begin to beat a little quicker, as she smiled. The woman before him was beautiful and stood with a type of style and grace that didn't fit in with the surrounding of the bakery or the baker. And if she was Alfie's girl, then Tommy would have to congratulate him. Though he had to admit, he was sure that she could do better.
"How rude of me............." Alfie suddenly said, as he turned to look at the brothers again. His brow quirking, as he noticed that Arthur had moved forward on his chair and John was now standing behind his two older siblings. Alfie not liking the fact that the youngest of the trio was suddenly smiling, having pulled the little stick from out of his mouth.
"(Y/n)..........I would like to introduce ya ta the Shelby boys. Arfur........John and of course Tommy. Gentlemen, this is (Y/n)...........my sister." Alfie continued proudly. Doing his best to ignore the looks that were coming from the men, even Tommy, who was the only one trying not to make the fact that the meeting had got a lot more interesting, that obvious.
"Ahhh, so you are the infamous Thomas Shelby.........? Alfie has told me all about you." (Y/n) said, as she leant over the table and held out her hand. Tommy looking at it for a moment, before taking it and carefully shaking.
Sister? Tommy had no idea that Alfie had a sister. And looking at them, you most certainly wouldn't know that they were siblings. Alfie was rugged, his beard a little unkempt and he was certainly rough around the edges. Prone to using language that would make even the most seasoned of seafarers, blush. His voice, tough and coarse. But this "sister", this (Y/n) was most certainly none of that. The clothes she wore were clean and appeared well tailored. The skirt and soft pale blouse fitting her perfectly. Her hair was cut short but framed her face just right; and her voice, her accent was nothing like that of her brothers. In fact..........in fact she, to Tommy anyway, looked and sounded...........posh. And if he were to be asked, Tommy would say that Alfie was lying about this whole sister thing.
"My apologies for the intrusion, gentlemen. Ollie did say that you were busy, but.................." (Y/n) apologised, as she let go of Tommy's hand. The leader of the Peaky Blinder's reluctantly letting her soft palm leave his rough one. The beautiful Solomons leaning over and whispering something into her brother's ear, her eyes never leaving Tommy's as she spoke. Alfie too busy listening, to notice the exchanged looks that were going on between his sister and the man from Small Heath. Too busy to see that smile that hadn't left her lips from the moment that she had laid eyes on the handsome man in the chair.
"Of course, of course. Anything ya think. Will ya be safe.........do ya want me to send a couple of my lads.............?"
"No, that's alright. Paddy and Charlie will be on the doors and Jack and Albert will be milling around all night. If he comes in, I'll send Freddie with a message for you." (Y/n) interjected, Alfie nodding his head in agreement.
"Good.......good. But make sure that fucker doesn't touch you, yeah........cos if he does, I'll have ta shoot him in tha fuckin face, won't I..........?"
"He wouldn't dare, Alfie. Now, I should be going, I have several things that need my attention before this evening. Again, my apologies for the interruption. It was a pleasure to finally be able to put faces to the names that my brother has spoken about." (Y/n) replied, kissing her brother on the side of the head before holding her hand out for each brother to shake. Arthur and John respectfully pulling their caps from their heads, as she made her way back to the door.
"See you later, Alfie." She added, giving Tommy one last smile before she left the room.
"Fuckin hell.........." John said without thinking, as he turned back to look at Alfie.
"You sure she's your sister...............?" The younger Shelby continued. Both Arthur and Tommy rolling their eyes at the comment.
"Of course I'm fuckin sure, what you tryin ta say..............?"
"He's not trying to say anything, Alfie, are you...............?" Tommy interrupted, as he looked at his brother.
"Nah........well he better not be. And he better keep those randy little hands of his to himself anole. Last little bastard I caught getting too close, ended up with ten broken fingers. That fucker'll never play tha violin again." Alfie warned; John holding up his hands in surrender before moving back to his spot by the door.
"Good..........nah, lets get this fuckin meeting over with............."
