"Is that it..............?" (Y/n) enquired, as she looked up at Alfie. The baker pouring himself another cup of tea from the pot that she had made, before sitting back in his old, creaky chair. Taking off his glasses before the steam from the tea could fog up the lenses.

"Yeah.........What more da ya fuckin want.........my inside leg measurement? Though if ya do, maybe I could even show ya it up close............." Alfie replied with a sniff, as he looked over the top of his cup; doing his best to gauge the woman, as (Y/n) slowly closed the book that she had been making notes in about his dealings with Sabini.

"If it helped us to deal with the rise of the Italian gangs in England, then yes. I would even ask what side you dressed on, if I thought it would be valuable. I do not embarrass easily, nor do I shy away from uncomfortable questions. And if offering to drop your trousers so that I can see what little lies within them, is your way of trying to distract me from my work or strangely charm me, then you will find that neither tactic works, Mister Solomons. That, and you wouldn't be the first man to make such an offer. Nor the first man that I had turned down............"

"And how did they take that.............? Can't imagine that tha fuckin Boches liked that during tha war, did they. Or maybe ya liked tha German sausage. That's how ya still alive when so many of your lot got hung............" Alfie countered, his brows furrowing as the agent began to laugh.

"I have found that no man takes it well when I turn him down, German or not. And what I did and had to do during the war for the good of this country, is of no concern of yours. But, what I will say, is that I didn't get my neck stretched because I didn't get too cocky, and I did do what I had to do. You would be amazed by how many got caught by screaming out in English, when they were in bed with an enemy officer. How many were tripped up because they didn't do their research. How many thought that they were smarter than everyone else around them. You see, captain, I do not underestimate anyone. Not them, not your workers out there and certainly not you. Because if you do, it will come back to bite you; and I don't like to be bitten..........well, perhaps occasionally under the right circumstances..............."

"So, ya were on ya back when I was up ta my arse in mud and shit in tha trenches...................?"

"Oh, believe me, Captain Solomons, there were times when I found myself wishing that I could be in the trenches. When I prayed to be surrounded by mud, shit and blood. When I wanted nothing more than to stand in the middle of no man's land and just let the Germans, the Turks or anyone else shoot at me. But...........you had to fight the war how you had to fight it; and I..........I had to fight it my way. And believe me when I tell you that I would do it all again if I had to.................." (Y/n) interrupted. Alfie for the first time seeing some emotion behind her beautiful eyes. For the first time seeing a slight chink in her professional armour. His hazel grey orbs watching her as she got to her feet. The baker mentally undressing her, as he caught a glimpse of the flesh that lay beneath the pale blouse that covered her torso. His thoughts going back to the night at the function so many years before in Paris. The night that she had descended the long, white marble staircase, and he had heard the murmurs of the men and women that surrounded him. How his heart had skipped a beat when she had smiled, his deepest desire to take her back to his room and show this goddess what a mortal man like him could do. And here, now, as she turned her gaze to him, he wanted to do the same thing. In fact, he wanted to sweep off everything on his desk and then bend her over it. To push up her skirt and sink himself deep inside her. The sound her moans filling his office.

"A tour...................."

"What.................?" Alfie asked, not having heard a single word that she had been saying.

"I said, seeing as you have nothing more for me at the moment, why don't you give me a tour of the bakery? If I am going to be here for a while, I should at least know my way around this place." (Y/n) explained; her arms firmly folded across her chest, accentuating her bosom all the more. Alfie shaking the quite lurid thoughts from his mind, before placing down his cup and putting back on his glasses. Nodding slowly in agreement before getting to his own feet and making his way to the door. Opening the ingress and allowing the agent pass, so that he watch her sway as she walked.

                                                       >>-------------------------------------<<

Alfie couldn't help but growl under his breath, as he and his new assistant made their way through the building. Every man stopping their work and staring at the agent as she went by. The baker knew what they were thinking. They were thinking exactly the same thing that he had been. The sound of whistles filling the air and making the anger grow inside of him.

He knew that it was ridiculous. They didn't know one another, and she was only there as part of the little deal that he had made, that he would fervently deny if anyone were ever to ask him about it. But........well, he had seen her first; and not one of the fuckers that worked for him, was good enough to even look at her, never mind anything else.

Suddenly, the big man stopped in his tracks, as he heard a voice that seemed to stand out more than the others. Alfie turning to see a short man chuckling about what he had just said to another. The man wondering whether this new woman was off the menu like they had been warned. And if not, what he would like to do to her. The man at the workers side, nudging him as Alfie made his way over. His eyes growing wide, as his boss stopped in front of him. The baker leaning in so that he could talk quietly.

"Ya see that there.........yeah? Ya see that woman...........? Well, if I catch ya looking at her again; if I hear that you've been talked about doin anything like that ta her again, yeah. I will take my fuckin fist, right. And shove it down your fuckin throat, until I can turn you inside out.............Do ya understand me................?" Alfie hissed. The man frantically nodding, as Alfie glared at him.

"Right. Well, ya can get back ta work now then can't ya............And that goes fa tha rest of ya an all..............." The gangster continued, his voice ringing out as he shouted. The men all quickly getting back to what they should have been doing.

"And you..........you can get back ta that office.............." Alfie continued, as he turned to (Y/n). The baker taking the arm of the smiling woman and leading her back to his private room.
