Luca sat in the car, a suitable distance away from the Garrison. The gangster, counting the minutes until (Y/n) would appear. He had been able to do nothing but think about her, since he had reluctantly left her home earlier that morning; the son of Vicente not wanting to cause the beauty, any trouble. The Italian American not sure what the Shelby's would do to her, if news that he had been seen coming out of her house, got back to them. Luca sure that Tommy and Arthur might think that she was betraying them. That she was telling him things about the family that he could use against them. But despite this danger, Luca knew that he couldn't stop seeing her, not now that she was more than just a pretty face. Not now that he knew so much more about her.
In truth, he had come to England for nothing other than revenge. Revenge for the death of his father. So, the last thing that had been on his mind, was a woman; but he had not factored in, meeting a woman like (Y/n). He had not factored in that his need for this woman, would rival his need for retribution; but it had. It did. And even though he knew that he really should just forget all about her; even though he knew that he should just walk away, he couldn't. Luca feeling the need to protect her from anyone and anything, just as he had the night before. To protect her from his own people, and even himself. The American gangster not sure how long he would let this all go, before he told (Y/n) the truth about why he was in Small Heath, and what he had come to do. But he did know, that for right or wrong, he would hope that he wouldn't have to explain all that for a while; that they would be able to get to know one another even better, before he had to drop the bombshell.

(Y/n) reached for her coat. The last customers had left not that long ago, but she and Harry had thankfully just finished cleaning the bar so that it was all ready for the next day. A smile coming to her lips, as she thought about the fact that Luca would be waiting for her. That she would once again be able to see her handsome hero.
Once she had recovered from Harry's news that the man that had attacked her, had been found. Once she had told Arthur and John that she was fine, and just needed a moment, to come to terms with the notion that the atrocious man had been discovered not far from where she lived, (Y/n) had got to her feet and continued on with her night, as she always would; the barmaid full of her usual jokes and flirty winks for some of the customers. But her mind had become more focused on Luca; more concerned that he should not get in trouble for what he had done for her. And even though she hated herself for thinking it, she was glad that the coppers were looking to the Blinders, rather than anyone else for the crime.
Not long before he and the others had left the pub, John had offered to stay and walk her home; he had offered to even meet her when she had her next shift at the Garrison and bring her in to make sure that she was safe. And even though she had quite liked the idea; even though she, under any other circumstances would have accepted the handsome Shelby's offer, Luca was the only one that she wanted to take her home.
"You gonna be alright?" Harry asked, as he came to grab his own jacket.
"What........? Oh, yes........I'll be fine. As I told Johnny, I have been walking home by myself since I started this job, and I am not going to let the fact that some creep was killed near my home, change my life. I am not going to let it scare me. But thanks for worrying, Harry; its sweet.........." (Y/n) explained, before kissing Harry on the cheek. The older man smiling as she winked at him before making her way to the doors of the pub. The Garrison filling with a sudden rush of cold night air, as the barmaid made her way out onto the street.

Luca sat up straighter, as he saw a figure make its way towards the car. The Italian American pushing his handgun back into his pocket, as the streetlight picked out the features of the woman that he had been waiting for; Luca climbing out of the car, as she got steadily closer.
If he were to be asked, he wasn't sure that he could say what made (Y/n) so different; what made him feel things for her, that he hadn't felt for all the pretty woman back at home. But what he would say was, that whatever this hold was that she did have over him, he had no desire to let her lose her grip. No desire to be set free.
"You're here.........." (Y/n) said, as she finally got to him. Luca taking the silken scarf from around his neck and placing it around hers, as she seemed to shake a little from the night air.
"Of course, I am. I told you I would be, didn't I..........?"
"I know. Its just that a little part of me figured I couldn't get that lucky. It's not every day that I have a handsome man come to my rescue and then offer to walk me home the next night too.........I thought you might have driven away in your noble steed to find another damsel to rescue............." (Y/n) countered, as she took the arm that Luca offered her.
"No, I'm a one damsel kind of guy. So, let's get you home, before we come across another dragon, my lady............." Luca replied. His heart thumping firmly against his chest, as (Y/n) smiled up at him, before snuggling into his side and letting him lead her down the street.
