"Oh! Watch where ya goin.............." A voice came, Alfie's eyes widening a little as he looked down to see a little man looking back up at him. It obvious that he wasn't very happy about the fact that the taller man had nearly knocked him over.
Alfie knew that he should have been watching where he was going, that he should have been paying more attention; but how could he? The woman that was there to distract him, was already doing so, very affectively. She hadn't said a word to him other than to say that she didn't mind showing him around; but she was definitely distracting him. He had no idea why such a beauty would be part of an oddity's sideshow. What she could have in common with the people he had seen so far; all of them staring at him, as he and (Y/n) walked by. Though a little part of him had to think that there was a reason that the woman was covered from neck to toe in clothes; though the fact that her hips swayed in such a very pleasing manner, had stopped him going any further with that though.
"Hey (Y/n)! Does this fuckin giant have anything to do with you............?" The little man called out, as (Y/n) made her way over.
"Yeah, he's with me. But be nice Georgie, he's a business acquaintance of Tommy Shelby. I'm er..........showing him the sights while Tommy and Sheamus go and see Donovan." (Y/n) explained, giving the little man a wink.
"Oh, yeah, well.........tell him to watch where he puts his feet in future. Fuckin grizzly nearly squashed me............" The little man replied, giving (Y/n) a small smile, before turning back to Alfie and giving him one last glare, before he disappeared back towards the tents.
"What tha fuck...................?"
"That was Georgie Biggs. The Biggest little man in the world..........." (Y/n) declared with a flourish and a giggle, as she saw the look on Alfie's face.
"Biggs.........really..............?"
"Yep.........that is his real name, unlike some others around here who Sheamus gave names to, Georgie's last name really is Biggs. And you'll have to excuse him, he is usually in a much better mood. Its just that his wife recently ran off with a saxophone player and he's taking it hard." (Y/n) told the Jewish gangster. Alfie unable to stop himself from laughing a little at the information.
"He had a wife.................?"
"Oh course! Just because he's small, doesn't mean that he isn't just like you or any other man. That he doesn't have wants; that he can't fall in love. It is a shame though. Lizzie was such a nice woman; but she wasn't like the rest of us, and this life can be a little to get used to, what with all the travelling and everything. Now, come on...........I am sure that some of the other girls would like to meet you." (Y/n) said, as she took him by the arm and led him to the huge, big top tent.
>>-----------------------------------<<
(Y/n) couldn't help but chuckle to herself, as some of the other girls crowded around the visitor. All of them more interested now that they knew he was an associate of the equally handsome Tommy Shelby; (Y/n) looking down at her watch and wondering how much longer Sheamus' and Tommy's business would take. Not that she really minded being the big man's chaperone, because there was something about him. It wasn't just the fact that he was handsome, because he was most definitely that; no, it was more the swagger in his step, the confidence in his stride, the way he held himself and of course, that smile. The Londoner suddenly looking over at her as if he needed rescuing.
"Alright, ladies, break it up..............." (Y/n) called out, as she made her way over to where the other sideshow girls were clucking over Alfie, as if he were a prized cockerel.
"This one's mine, so get your own..............." The painted lady continued, as she moved a little closer, shooing the others away. The women groaning as they dispersed; (Y/n) taking a seat next to him.
"Well, you certainly know how to create a stir, Mister Solomons............Maybe I should talk to Sheamus about employing you. I think that you're a sure fire way of getting the girls to keep coming back." (Y/n) chuckled, as she looked into the Londoners eyes. Quite liking what she saw behind them.
"What is it with you? Ya don't belong here..........." Alfie suddenly said, as he pulled his hat from his head.
"Oh, I belong here just as much as our bearded lady, as much as Georgie or Harold our strong man. In fact, I have been with Sheamus for longer than any of them. This year will make it my twentieth year. I grew up in this circus, in the sideshows. The odd little girl that he found working in the London docks.............."
"Wait........what................?"
"Who tha fuck is this..............?" A harsh voice suddenly enquired, Alfie and (Y/n) turning to see a tall, dark-haired man make his way over to them. The painted lady rolling her eyes as he stopped in front of them.
"Gio...........Gio this is Alfie Solomons. Alfie this is Giovanni, he's our lion tamer................." (Y/n) explained; ignoring the look that Gio was giving not only her, but the man by her side.
"Oh, yeah. And what's he doin with you..............?"
"If its any of your business, which it isn't, I'm showing him around............"
"Showin him around what........your caravan................?" Gio interrupted. The swarthy man stepping back as Alfie got to his feet. A snarl coming to the gangster's lips; the big man not liking the insinuation that was being made.
"Alright............that's it. You dare talk to me like that again, Gio, and I will be feeding you to those fucking cats of yours. I am not your girl, I have never been your girl, and never will be. Come on Alfie, I am sure that Tommy and Sheamus have finished with Donovan by now." (Y/n) said, as she got to her feet and took Alfie's hand, pulling him from the big top tent.
>>-------------------------------<<
The trip back through the tents to where Tommy had left the car, had been a quiet one; (Y/n) never letting go of Alfie's hand as they walked back past the painted caravans. Alfie had more questions than answers. This woman, the woman that had been part of the sideshows for twenty years was intriguing him more than words can say, and he had to find out everything about her. He had to get to know her better. He had to find out more about her being from London, about what she did in the show; about why she felt she belonged with this strange mixture of human beings..............
"Here you go............." (Y/n) suddenly said, as she saw Sheamus and Tommy standing next to the car.
"I want ta see ya again.............." Alfie told her, as he pulled her to the side and into the shadows.
"And why would you want to do that.............?"
"I want ta find out more about ya. Ta get ta know ya better................."
"We shall see...........if you really think that you want to know me, come to see the show when we open tomorrow night. Then you will see how I really fit in here. And if............if you then decide you still want to know me.........then perhaps..............." (Y/n) replied, her head turning as she heard her name called.
"I hope to see you tomorrow..........Mister Solomons..........." The painted lady added; giving Alfie a smile before she ran off. Alfie watching her disappear, before making his way over to the waiting Shelby.
