Chapter-28: Coveting Anamnesis

Time passed. From that day, the way I saw Schicksal changed. From a temporary home to a monitored prison. I realized that Otto would never let his guard down when it came to me no matter how much passed. For him I was a weapon that needed to be contained.

My training became harsher and more focused on my ability to wield Honkai Energy freely. At this point, I am able to create strong winds and wind blades that can cut even through cement blocks. As well as creating flames that would incinerate a Honkai beast in minutes. But for some reason, Otto seemed a little disappointed that, that was all I could do.

At first I couldn't understand why, but with time I came to discover the reason. "That bastard really knows how to play people."

Other change was that now I sometimes spend time with Durandal and Rita. And some of the Immortal Blades too at Otto's request. The only possible reason I could think was that he is planning to send me in missions with them or something. But at how thing are going now, it's hard to say.

The training and the way Otto encourages me to use the my ability are too different from how a Valkyrie is trained. My training was more similar to how mages are train in fantasy stories. But since this world doesn't have any Valkyries that are even close to how a mage fights, there's only one possibility... Herrschers.

Herrschers are the only beings in this world that can fight without the need of a weapon. Having a Herrscher Gem or Core, they don't need Honkai Energy from an external source to use their abilities. And with great Honkai resistance and compatibility, they are not restrained by the risk of Honkai corruption. Doesn't that feel strangely familiar?

*sigh* I am trailing off... Where was I... Right! What changed till now.

Ahem. My free time has been greatly reduced with the increase of training days and hours. Even tough I was training in using the ability I had, I was still training my skill with weapons. Well, it's true that my mastery in weapons has increased a lot, but I still value my free time. But I didn't have enough time to hang out with the others as often as before.

A few days ago, I was transferred to a base under a deserted city. Otto was testing the 2nd key and need for anything that could come out of the 'mirror'. This was obviously Durandal's job, but for some reason I was there as well. My mission was to deal with any unexpected occurrences. But since Durandal was here, I had nothing to do besides being ready for action.

"Attention all personnel. Test firing 42 of the 2nd Divine Key will commence in 5 minutes." I heard a voice through the comms.

The alarm started through the entire city and a countdown was announced. Right in that moment I was in the position that every Honkai Impact fan wished to be. I was about to witness the power of a divine key with my own eyes. This was probably the only moment I was thankful to Otto.

The countdown hit zero and I felt an earthquake. Then I pillar of light shoot right into the sky, creating a mirror like hole. The shards of 'sky' were falling and the hole that was connected to the sea of quanta looked like a round patch of night sky in the daytime. It was mesmerizing.

"Divine Key firing success. Initiating Stage 1. Energy output stabilized. Quantum interface wetting confirmed." the announcement came through the cooms, waking me up from my trance. The Quantum shadows started sipping out of the portal and the next announcement came. "Quantum Shadow incursions detected. All yours, Master Durandal." As this was a public channel, I could hear the orders for the others as well.

"Roger." Bianka answered with her usual calm tone. Not like she'll face any danger or anything. She dealt with the quantum shadows and moved to the next zone shortly.
