Chapter-40: Examination

P.O.V. Seele / A while before meeting Diana

I was playing with the children of the orphanage in the recreation area, when suddenly Dr.Einstein called for me. I promised the children to play with them again later and went to see Dr.Einstein.

"I wonder why Dr.Einstein called me." I said to myself.

"(She just came back from a secret mission not long ago, didn't she? Maybe she needs you to run an errand.)" the other me said, brushing it off.

"Maybe." not long after that, we finally arrived and I knocked at the door.

"Enter." I heard Dr.Einstein say and I opened the door.

"U-um, Dr.Einstein, do you need anything?" I asked as I entered the Laboratory and noticed someone else inside.

"Miss Vollerei, if you are not busy. Could you show miss Anastasia around the base?" Dr.Einstein asked and I looked at miss Anastasia. She has night black hair and emerald green eyes. She had a cold expression as she looked back at me.

"It's alright. I'm not busy." I said waving my hands. "But it is alright with you, miss Ana-anastasia?" I asked since she seemed to be staring at me from the moment I opened the door.

"Just Ana is fine." Miss Anastasia said with a cold yet gentle voice. "If it's alright with you, it's alright with me." she seemed to try and reassure me.

"Yes, miss Ana." I said, a little happy since Miss Ana doesn't seem to be a bad person.

"If that's settled, I'll leave you to it. I need to get back to my work." Einstein said as she turned back to her work.

"(Seele, be careful around her. This person has a high quantity of Honkai energy inside of her. She's dangerous.)" the other me warned me as we went outside the Lab.

"(But we still don't know that. Miss Ana looks cold, but since Dr.Einstein asked me to show her around, she could actually be a good person.)" I tried to reassure the other me.

"(Hmph, don't come to me if something happens to you.)" annoyed, the other me said.

"..." the next moment I realized that Miss Ana and I were standing in front of Dr.Einstein's Lab without saying anything to each other. I needed to say something before the atmosphere could become more awkward. "!" then I realized that we didn't introduced ourselves.

"Miss Ana, I didn't introduce myself." I turned to her and quickly said. "My name is Seele Vollerie, nice to meet ywu." in the end I bit my tongue. I thought that I made the situation uncomfortable with my mistake, but...

"Nice to meet you too." Miss Ana said with a comforting voice, as I felt a hand on my head. I looked up to see that she was petting me with one hand, while she covered her mouth with the other. "My name is Anastasia. I'll be in your care." just then I noticed that she was holding herself from laughing at me.

(This is so embarrassing...) as I thought that, I turned and began the tour. As I showed her around, miss Ana would occasionally ask me some questions. Like:

-Library: Can I find books about 'this' and 'that'?

-Training room: Does it have private shower rooms?

-Park: Do people come often here in the morning?

And so on. Those were quite the specific questions, but I answered them the best I could. There were some that I didn't know how to answer to them, but she didn't seem to be bothered by that, I think. After we finished the tour, it was already late in the afternoon.
