Whumpee spent so much time screaming for help in their secluded hell that their voice was ruined. This wasn't helped by Whumper who preferred the sound of screams and would do what they could to exacerbate Whumpee's distress and suffering just so they could hear their mournful cries.
Whumpee comes home with vocal fry. What voice they once had will never be the same as vocal fry cannot be reversed. Yet another aspect of Whumpee's life that has been permanently altered.
Maybe they were a professional singer before this. Maybe they loved their voice and are struggling to adjust...
And maybe they decide to become the frontman to a wicked metal band to scream some more about their experiences as a form of therapy.
