The next day, I woke up to a ray of sunshine peeking through the curtains in Mari's room.
I took a deep breath. The sun was up, and I can already hear the birds chirping outside the garden.
What a beautiful morning. I can definitely see myself waking up like this everyday, especially if I am waking up beside a certain someone who I am undoubtedly very in love with.
A smirk spread across my sleepy face. "Hmmm.." I tossed and stretched my arms and legs, slowly prompting my eyes to open. "Good morning, love." I said as I tried to reach for Mari on the other side of the bed. Where I know he is, but to my surprise, he is not there.
I abruptly sat up. I rubbed my still sleepy eyes and looked around the room.
"Where could he be?" I felt a little alarmed. I suddenly wondered if I did well enough last night to take away whatever pain he was feeling.
I scanned the four corners of his room. He's not on the couch, and no one is inside the bathroom either.
I reached for my cellphone on the bedside table to check the time. That's when I saw the little note he probably slipped under it when I was still drooling in my sleep.
I picked it up and smiled as I expectantly read what is written:
"Good morning, mi amor!
Go get breakfast without me, I just need to do a quick errand this morning.
Te amo,
Mari.P.S. Don't forget to pack your bags, we leave after lunch."
I slowly stood up, wrapping the blanket around my still naked body.
Last night has to be the wildest sex that we had. He was a little rough and obviously frustrated at something, but he still didn't hurt me in any way.
Also, oddly enough, I really liked it. Loved it, even. Am I weird?
I shook my head and looked at the small paper again. A wide smile formed into my lips. I can't wait for our trip to begin! I will have Mari all to myself. Plus, I have always wanted to go to Paris.
I walked towards the window and looked outside. "Wow." The view from Mari's room was outstanding. I can see the overview of their garden here. There were flower beds, an herbs and spices garden, and even a greenhouse. But the one that caught my attention was the small hedge maze at the center of it all. It looks like a good place to get lost into. Perfect for hide and seek.
I was getting lost in the early morning scenery, when I heard a soft knock on the door. I panicked a little, not knowing if I should answer the door half naked or if I should just play the quiet game and wait for whoever that is to leave. I'm actually not supposed to be in Mari's room.
I hurried towards the bathroom and snatched a bathrobe. I put it on before I started rummaging through Mari's closet. Maybe I can find shorts and t-shirt in here.
"Señorita?" It was the voice of their old helper, if I'm not mistaken.
"Uhm..yeah?" I answered hesitantly.
"I have clothes here for you, as instructed by señior Mari." She said over the locked door.
I heaved a sigh of relief. Thank goodness. I thought I was gonna walk around wearing my gown last night, the classic walk of shame.
I walked towards the door and opened it just a little so I can see her.
"Good morning, señorita." She smiled at my direction. "Breakfast is ready. Señora Barbara is waiting for you in the dining hall." She said then handed me a paper bag.
