Destined

First Date

I woke up the following day, feeling fully rested. Today is Sunday, the last day before classes starts.

I went for a quick walk just to get some fresh air and then attended the morning church service. Then I bought a sandwich before returning home.

I'm planning to just lounge around my home, read a book and be lazy. Let's just consider this my day for relaxation. I'm pretty sure my days will be spent differently starting tomorrow.

I will be committing myself to studying hard in order to pass my Master's Degree with flying colors.

This is my goal. THE GOAL. I must have no time for other things.

When I reach home, I quickly freshened up and changed into comfortable clothes. I sat in one of my lounge chairs and started reading a book. I chose a book written by Harper Lee, called "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Only a few pages in when my phone rang. I almost didn't want to answer it, but I saw that it was Mari.

"Hey.." I answered.

"Hey gorgeous. Are you busy?"

For some reason my heart always skipped a beat hearing his voice. Actually, it does that whenever he's near me or in whatever he does. Anything related to him, my heart beats 3x faster. I'm starting to think he's bad for my health. Haha.

"Hmm..I'm just reading a book right now. Today is our last day of freedom, so I'm gonna spend it lounging around. Why?"

"Uhmm..I was just wondering if maybe we can have dinner together? There is this place I wanted to show you."

Dinner with him sounds tempting.

"It's tempting really. But I'm too lazy to get up and get dressed." I said bitting my lip.

"You look good in anything, Eli. You can wear sweatpants and a hoodie and still rock it. Really, you can wear anything." He insisted.

I took a deep breath. I'm really not in the mood to go out. "I don't know Mari..I'm sorry.." I can really be stubborn at times.

"..I really just wanna see you.." He fell silent for a while. "How about dinner in my place then? No need to dress up, and I'll just cook for us. It'll be fun." He countered.

"Wow. You're really persistent. What are you up to?" I chuckled.

"I just wanna see you..Is that so bad? Come on, have dinner with me..Pretty please?" He paused. "I'll give you a tour of my house. Plus..it'll be our first real date."

Our first date. Okay, be still my heart. You are freaking out again.

I sighed. I can pretend all I want, but let's be honest. I can't really say no to this guy.

"Eli? Baby..please?" He pleaded.

Baby..this endearment always gets to me. I know I'm not his girlfriend, I'm not even sure what we are..but I don't mind.

And if I'm really being honest, I like it. I like it a lot. I like how he says it and how the word rolls out of his mouth.

"Eli? Still there?"

I blushed. Snapping myself out of my thoughts. "Fine." I finally agreed. "I'll just freshen up and then go there." I smiled. "I wanted to at least be presentable for our first date."

"Yes!" He said excitedly. "Don't worry, I'll make it worth your time."

"Okaaay." Is all I could say. I was trying to contain my also excited self.
