Lounging around his base, Scar enjoys the sun, basking in its warmth. It's good to be home.
Shame he's pretty sure Grian would enforce naptime if he started working on his base right away. The stern Watcher left no room for argument when he told him to rest and allow the now permanent boon to settle, and after how upset he was to discover it'd been kept secret from him, Scar was in no mood to push back.
He's just concerned about him. He'll calm down eventually.
A feeling of childlike curiosity comes from the side, and he turns his head to look at the baby water elemental he accidentally adopted. Or, well, at the temporary pool he built for it for until he can make a properly incorporated system of waterways throughout Scarland.
"What'd you find?" he asks.
It presents a baby chicken, accompanying it with a feeling of confusion and a fuzzy impression of something round. He smiles. "Did you throw an egg?" Hesitant affirmative, along with more confusion. "What does that have to do with it? Minecraft's a bit weird. Animals just pop up sometimes, and chicken eggs can hatch into a baby chicken when you throw them if you get lucky."
The baby elemental slumps back, still confused, but more of a 'that's weird' confused. It sets the chicken down and flows over to him, cuddling up against him.
He rests a hand on it. Well, as best as he can manage when it's basically living water. "I'll see about setting up some water tunnels for you to travel through later today, okay?" Gratitude and contentment are its response, warm as shallow water on a sunny day.
A little bit later, he hears footsteps crunch across the grass, approaching him where he lays in the sun. The wariness of his little friend isn't as bad as it feels towards Grian, but strangely enough, he can tell that it's telling him that the person approaching him doesn't belong. If that wariness is because of Grian's Voidborn nature, then the person approaching him should be Xisuma.
He cracks open an eye. Sure enough, he sees Xisuma wandering over, a... nearly transparent screen in front of him? It looks kinda like his inventory, but not? Weird.
Putting that out of his mind for now, Scar greets the admin. "Hey Xisuma! What brings you all the way over here?"
"Nothing too major, I just need to make sure your little friend is connected to respawn. Should just take me a couple minutes."
Scar smiles gratefully, sharing a sense of calm with the baby elemental to stop it from backing away from Xisuma. Doesn't stop it from hiding behind his back, but it's better than fleeing completely. "Thanks Xisuma. Is it hard to do? I remember it took a while back when respawn was first made."
Xisuma starts tapping at the nearly transparent screen. Distractedly, he responds, "Mmm? Not particularly, now that it's more entrenched. What we've got now is much more efficient than what we started with, and a lot of the difficulty lay in that first connection, convincing Minecraft that the person in question needs to have respawn applied when necessary."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
Sure enough, a couple minutes later, the baby elemental shivers, curling around his wrist and bombarding him with wordless questions regarding things like 'connection', 'home', and 'bound'. He comforts it, explaining, "We've got a thing we get Minecraft to do that helps keep us from actually dying here. If we die, that connection brings us right back to life, back in perfect shape!"
It calms down a bit, grumping about something along the lines of 'small home weird.'
Smiling, Xisuma announces, "Well, that's done. The little elemental is now connected to respawn, just like Jellie."
