Arianne

"Here's your apron" Lucy hands me it.

I tie a little bow on the back to secure it. I have to admit I didn't expect Lucy to hire me right away. I also didn't think she'd be so understanding about not giving me more than ten hours of work.

Lucy spent an entire hour teaching me how things work before she finally allowed me to start. It's really exciting because I've never had a job. My parents are well off so I never had to worry about getting on.

Neither do I have to have one right now, but i need a little something with me incase I want something and I don't mind working for it.

The little bell at the door rings meaning someone walked in. A young girl walks up to me.

It's fine it's fine remember what Lucy explained.

"Good morning!" I greet her.

"You're new here?" The girl asks.

So she comes here a lot.

"Yeah it's my first day, what can I get for you?" Im pretty sure she can feel how nervous I am right now.

"Ice latte" she orders.

I add that on the little screen and wait for the price to pop up.

"Size?" I ask.

"Small"

"That would be ten bucks"

She hands me it in cash and takes the receipt with her and sits at one of the tables.

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I take out my notebook from my bag and right down some notes. Once I'm done I start fixing up her coffee.

Aaron.

I was about to leave the house until I saw dad sitting alone in the living room. I barley see him anymore this is probably my only chance to actually spend some quality time.

He notices me taking a seat next to him and turns of his phone.

"Hey" I say trying to end the awkwardness I feel.

"What's wrong?" He asks me.

The confused look on his face says it all.

"Nothing I just want to hang with you" I tell him.

A smile appears on his face. A smile I haven't seen in a while.

"Are you traveling this week too?" I ask.

"No actually I'm staying"

I try my best to hide the excitement I'm feeling right now.

"It's been such a long time since I've heard that" I admit.

He laughs.

"Where's Annie?" Dad asks.

"Her names Arianne" I correct.

"And she's out somewhere" I add

My moms voice chimes in from the hallway.

"She went to Lucy's coffee shop to get a job"

"Speaking of her shop, I'm really craving her cookies" dad points out.

"I can go get some for the house" I tell him.

He hands me his wallet and keys and I get up to fulfill his needs. I needed that talk with him it felt so comfortable. Especially with the shit that I've been feeling all week I feel really calm and at peace.
