Arianne

"Here's your apron," Lucy handed me.

I tied a little bow on the back to secure it. I have to admit I didn't expect Lucy to hire me right away. I also didn't think she'd be so understanding about not giving me more than ten hours of work.

She spent an entire hour teaching me how things work before she finally allowed me to start. It's been really exciting because I've never had a job. My parents were well off so I never had to worry about getting one.

Neither do I have to have one right now, but I need a little something with me in case I want something and I don't mind working for it.

The little bell at the door rang meaning someone walked in. A young girl walked up to me.

It's fine— it's fine, remember what Lucy explained.

"Good morning!" I greeted her.

"You're new here?" The girl asked right away.

So she comes here a lot. Noted.

"Yeah it's my first day, what can I get for you?" I'm pretty sure she could feel how nervous I was.

"Iced caramel latte," she ordered.

I added that on the little screen and waited for the price to pop up.

"Size?" I asked.

"Small,"

I told her the price and she handed me it in cash taking the receipt with her then sat at one of the tables.

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I took out my notebook from my bag and wrote down some notes. Once I'm done I started fixing up her coffee.

Aaron

I was about to leave the house until I saw dad sitting alone in the living room. I barely saw him anymore. That was probably my only chance to actually spend some quality time.

He noticed me taking a seat next to him and turned off his phone.

"Hey," I started, trying to end the awkwardness I felt.

"What's wrong?" He asked me.

The confused look on his face said it all.

"Nothing, I just want to hang out with you," I told him.

A soft smile appeared on his face as he took off his reading glasses.

"Are you traveling this week too?" I asked.

"No, I am staying for a couple of days."

I tried my best to hide the excitement I was feeling at the moment.

"It's been such a long time since I've heard that," I admitted.

He laughed.

"Where's Annie?" Dad asked, looking around for Aria.

"Her name's Arianne," I corrected.

"And she's out somewhere" I added.

My moms voice chimed in from the hallway.

"She went to Lucy's to get a job"

"Speaking of her place, I'm really craving her cookies," dad pointed out.

It was her bestseller, you could never really turn them down.

"I can go get some for the house" I offered.
