'Wanna hangout with the rest of us?' The text message read.

It was Dylan. Now I know I was mad at him last week, but he called and apologized last night.

And I was also bored so I replied,
'Sure, just come pick me up' I texted back.

I waited for the three dots on my screen to stop.

'Already omw ;)' He responded.

I smiled at the message and got out of bed to get ready. I felt really confident in myself today. I have been feeling out of place lately. I haven't made any actual friends yet, my parents never called back, and all I have been doing recently is school work. I needed to get out.

I walked to my closet to choose an outfit. A couple minutes after I finished getting ready Dylan texted me telling me he's out.

As I was heading out Aaron's voice popped out from behind me.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

I turned around to look at him and saw him just standing there, looking at me with a curious expression.

"I'm meeting up with some friends," I replied, trying to keep my tone light and casual.

"I thought I was your only friend?"

I rolled my eyes trying my best to remind myself that this man can't tell when he is being a total ass. "I have other friends, Aaron."

I was about to turn around and leave but he started talking again.

"Who are you going out with then?" He asked, his tone a little sharper than before. I could sense the annoyance in his voice—or was it jealousy? Not wanting to make a big deal out of it, I replied simply.

"Just some people I met recently," I said, shrugging my shoulders. "Nothing special." I added

"Is Dylan going to be there?" He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Why does it matter?" I asked him, letting the annoyance slip out. "Jealousy much?"

Aaron looked taken aback. "Don't flatter yourself," he scoffed. "I was just being curious."

"Sure," I grabbed my purse and walked out the door. I spotted Dylan's car right away and got into the passenger seat. The beginning of the drive was silent until he spoke up.

"Hey, what's up with you?" Dylan asked, turning down the radio. "You seem really quiet."

I sighed, staring out the window. "Nothing, Aaron was being annoying before I left."

"What did he do?" He asked, his eyes narrowing.

"He kept asking me where I was going, and with whom," I said, shrugging.

Dylan shook his head, "that's so typical of him" he said rolling his eyes. "He's always like that, trying to control everyone. It's annoying."

I turned my head to look at him.

I felt a pang of guilt in my chest, " I don't know" I said, hesitantly. "We're actually getting along now, but I don't know why he doesn't like you."

"He's just an asshole who thinks he's above everyone that's why."

"He's not that bad," I tried to defend.

Dylan scoffs, "yeah right."

We didn't speak much after but for some reason his comments bothered me.
