A/n: i just want to make smth clear before reading, this chapter includes alcohol, and the mention of eating disorders so if you get easily triggered by these topics I suggest you to skip this and dw it doesn't effect the plot much. AND in no way shape or form am i promoting underage drinking- don't do anything mentioned here.
Arianne
"Come one no one has to know," Conner reasoned with me.
"Aaron does."
"Fuck Aaron."
"I don't know..." I hesitated.
I should've stopped the second I hesitated but instead I gave in to peer pressure.
He nudged me with the bottle, "at least one sip."
"Fine," I took the bottle from his hand.
I have never drank before in my life. However, I have been around alcoholics my whole life. My parents drank a lot growing up, especially my father. The smell would give me a headache whenever I was around him. Fearing I'd grow up to be like him, I made a promise to myself to never touch a bottle.
I broke that promise.
~4 hours before~
I took the brownies out of the oven, praying that I didn't burn them. I was helping Ella with baking while she cooked dinner because her sister is coming over today.
She's a single mother with a son and a daughter. The daughter is six while the son is a year older than me which means he's in college. I was pretty excited to meet them, if Ella's nice then I'm sure her sister is too.
"Arianne, your brownies are looking good," Ella smiled at me, giving me a plate to put them in.
I thanked her as I moved the hot brownies onto the plate being extra careful so they don't break apart.
I should've waited for them to cool.
I tapped my phone to look at the time.
7:45pm
How were they not here yet?
As if on cue the doorbell rang. Excitement filled me, being in America I have learned something new about myself. I loved meeting new people. Aaron, however, wasn't as excited. He groaned as Ella told him to open the door.
A few moments later a tall woman accompanied by a tall man walks in the kitchen to greet Ella. I was stunned at how similar they look, almost as if they were twins. Ella finishes from hugging her sister, Rose, and moved to greet her nephew.
"You've grown so much since I last saw you," she hugged him even tighter.
"Ella, last time you saw me was when I was 14," her nephew who I now remembered was named Conner pointed out.
I frowned in confusion. Why have they not seen each other since?
Ella looked at me and saw the confusion, "They lived in England." She explained.
I nodded. That made more sense.
"Who's the pretty one?" Conner looked over at me amused.
I could feel my cheeks burn.
"This is Arianne, she's on exchange we are hosting her," Ella explained.
I won't lie, Conner's stare was making me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't a friendly stare.
The silence in the room was broken by Aaron's scoff. I didn't even know he was in the room. We all turned to look at him, he was sitting at the dining table on his phone— well was on his phone.
