Arianne
"What's taking them so long?" Lucy hissed. I can see why she's pissed off. The plane landed almost forty minutes ago and we're still not allowed to move from our seats.
"Maybe they're having trouble parking?" I gave an excuse acting like I know anything about planes. In fact I'm pretty sure planes don't park. Lucy brought her attention back to the window while tapping on her bag anxiously. I assumed she didn't like planes when she had a strong grip on my hand as we were taking off.
For me, I've always enjoyed flights. Although I didn't travel much with my family unless it was to some social event, going to the airport and on the plane were my favorite parts of those trips.
We were finally let out of the plane and I gave my goodbyes to Lucy. She was a nice seat partner. Now, the part I'm scared about most.
Meeting my host family.
A young lady, probably in her late thirties, and I assumed her husband waved at me from a far. I recognized her from the photo I was sent before arriving. Before I could even make it to her she ran my way and squeezed me with hugs.
"Ohh I've been so excited to finally meet you!" She exclaimed hugging me even tighter.
"Honey you're suffocating her," her husband pointed out.
She immediately let go and apologized.
"Ryan don't be rude take the bags from her!" She stressed out.
"Oh no it's fine really I don't mind," I reassured her.
She didn't budge and kept on asking the man to take my bags. Once he did, she calmed down and we all walked back to the car.
"I don't mean to sound rude, but remind me again of your names?" I asked when the man started driving.
I'm not so good with names as you can tell.
"We're the Kingstons but you can call us by our first names, Ryan and Ella" Ella replied.
I didn't say anything and just placed my head back on the seat.
I like them. They seem nice.Once we arrived home I was told to put my stuff up to my room. The instructions were unclear because I didn't know where my room was exactly and their house is quite big.
Not mansion big but big. Luckily, Ella realized her mistake and helped me find my way.
"I'm sorry dear I totally forgot to show you where— your room is right next my son's" she pointed at my door.
Son? There's a son involved?
Please let him be a five year old.
I took this opportunity to ask, "where is he?"
"Oh Aaron's out with friends but he should be back by now for dinner don't worry I'm sure you two will get along." She reassured, helping me push my luggage.
I don't think five year olds go out alone.
Once she left I took some time to look around my room for the next 12 months. It's plain and has no personality something I can fix with the permission of Ella, of course.
The rules and conditions were pretty clear and im pretty sure they're easy to follow right? I mean why would I want to drink or do drugs or even date someone? I'm gone in a year, better make it worth it.
An hour after unpacking my stuff Ella called me down for dinner. Having dinner at 6 isn't something I was prepared for. Back home sometimes we'd be eating lunch at 6– that is if we ate lunch.
