Sirens. Lights. I could hear people shouting, though I couldn't tell what. I opened my eyes to see the ceiling of an ambulance. I had been in enough as a kid to know. Even though I had just woken up, sleep tried to claim me—probably because I was in desperate need of medical attention—and I wanted to give in; but I had to go back, back in the fire, back to them. I tried to get up, but a wave of white hot pain knocked me back down, then the good old adrenaline kicked in and I managed to stand. Whether it was my dizziness or the vehicle moving, the floor under me swayed, and I ignored it. Then, with all my weight, I pushed against the doors but they didn't budge. It didn't help that hands were grabbing me from behind, trying to pull me back. I grabbed the first sharp object I saw and stabbed at the hands. Save them, I need to save them. The doors gave way and my face made contact with the pavement. Then I was back on shaky feet, walking, stumbling back to the warehouse. One foot in front of the other, I can make it.
Inside the warehouse I stopped to look around for a minute and gather my bearings. There, I saw them, Mom and Dad. It took me a bit but once I got over to them I checked their pulses, I needed to be sure.
They were dead. One at a time I dragged them over to where I had been in the box, thinking the water could protect what was left of their bodies. The glass was shattered all around the spilled water and the shards cut into my bare feet. With that done, I continued to look, but I couldn't see through all the blood and smoke. Brushing it all away I shuffled deeper into the fire. In my disoriented state I couldn't see that there was a chain hanging in front of me and I ran straight into it, burning myself wherever it touched. I cried out and cussed in Irish (my first language). Then I saw it, five chairs all in a circle. Four bodies near and on the chairs.
Aiden.
Nova.
Jade.
Luke.
My siblings.
One at a time I dragged them over to where I put mom and dad. Only Luke and Jade made it over there though because while I was bringing Nova over I slipped, and hit my head. I heard EMT'S calling out and I saw them running towards me, but everything after that was a red blur.
Authors note: originally these were all one chapter, but I'm trying to make the parts shorter since it makes more sense to me that way
