"Kicked out of the big kids club?" Noah asked from the couch when I opened the basement door.
Yes. "Got bored." I lied, "Torture isn't as fun to watch as you'd think."
"Oh! Can I go help Auntie Nada?" Lizzy asked excitedly, popping up from behind the couch.
"Absolutely not, lovely. Why don't you go get ready for bed with Amanda?" We both knew it wasn't a suggestion and she obeyed immediately, dragging Amanda behind her. I heard the sink running from the bathroom and laughing from the two girls. A smile formed on my face as I remembered getting ready for bed with Nova when we were little. Then I turned my attention to getting myself some dinner. Yum, childrens comfort foods.
“So,” I said to Noah, plopping down on the couch with my food. “How are you doing?"
"Today was… insane, to say the very very least. But you won, right? I mean, we would still be in the panic room if you had lost, right?" He turned to look at me.
"We didn't win, we can't win until the entire uprising is torn down."
"And how will you do that?"
"Well, that's the thing. The reason they're after us is because we–I–have something that they don't want me to. A USB drive. It has a list of all known members in it, if we could get it to the Pentagon then we could take them all out."
"So why haven't you? This could all be done."
"I- hey that is a good question. Are you up for a road trip?"
Noah nodded, "Anything to get out of this house."
"Okay, tell Olivia, she can cover for us. I'll get Gideon and see if he wants to come."
