Five minutes after we left the school, I saw a man watching some kids play baseball from behind the fence with a cigarette in his mouth and four feet ahead a van was parked on the side of the road. I nudged Caleb and nodded my head in the direction of the man and then the van. He nodded and put a hand in his back pocket casually, so that it was closer to his gun while I reached in my bag for something that looked like an innocent fidget toy and started messing around with it as we walked.

The doors to the van opened as we got closer and I grabbed the hands of Noah and Olivia. "Run." I whispered to them and gave them a little push. They turned and gave me a confused look as the man with the cigarette reached for me. Because why would they listen to me? Such rookie behavior. I popped the pin out of the end of the fidget toy and opened three of my fingers, the fidget expanded in a matter of seconds and stabbed into the man as it became a bo staff. He stumbled back clutching his thigh and, reaching into his pocket, pulled out a gun. I knocked it out of his hand and picked it up to shoot him when I heard Olivia scream, I turned to see two of the men from the van grabbing her and another two shoving Noah into the van. "Caleb!" I screamed, "Do something!". He had his gun out and pointed it, then someone pulled a trigger somewhere and I was blacking out. The last thing I saw was Olivia crying in the back of a van.

I woke with a start to find myself in a warehouse, hanging by chains on my wrists, and looked around to try and figure out what the Hell was going on. Olivia and Noah were both tied to chairs and looked unharmed. But where was Caleb? Had he gotten away?
"Madelyn, what's happening?" Olivia cried, she looked over at Noah who was still unconscious. "I'm scared."
"It's okay." I soothed, "We're gonna be okay."
"No, you won't actually. You are all going to die." A voice behind me said. "Sorry about the chains by the way, we just got so tired of you breaking out of the chairs the last time. How did you do that? I've been wondering." The voice moved towards me and I saw the face of Caleb when he turned to look at me.
"Are you serious? Olivia please remind me to kill Oliver when we leave. What the Hell Caleb? You're a Nazi? This is what I get for trusting people I guess." Of course, I thought, but I can get out of these chains almost easier than I can get out of the chairs.
"Aw, don't be too upset. You might be bad at lying but I'm ab-so-lutely a-mazing." He took a step towards me with every syllable until he was right in front of me. "In case it hasn't registered yet," Caleb reached his hand up and pressed his thumb into a hole in my shoulder that I didn’t know was there, causing me to take a sharp breath in through my teeth and grimace in pain. "I was the one who shot you. Poisoned bullets to knock you out almost on impact." He pivoted and walked to the chairs Noah and Olivia were sitting in and lightly slapped Noah on the face telling him to wake up.
