Vincent’s POV
“I love you Fiona.” I blurted suddenly as the waiter put our breadsticks on the table and walked away. Fiona smiled lovingly at me and told me that she loved me too. Every time we told each other we loved each other, I wondered if it was wrong of me to be in love with her and to have feelings for another man. Most females wouldn’t even accept a guy that they knew was also into guys. It was like having double the people to cheat with them on. On the contrary, it was the same for Fiona. She was into girls as well, so she could cheat on me with a female—if we were together that is. I didn’t think she ever would when and if we got together. Right after Fiona told me she loved me, I heard a familiar voice from behind me. “Fi? Vinny?” my heart dropped into my gut as I recognized the voice immediately. Moments later Kim slid into the booth next to Fiona. “What are you guys up to?” she asked. Fiona and I just kind of looked at each other, not knowing how to answer such a simple question. ‘What are you up to?’ could pertain to anything. Obviously we were in Olive Garden having a dinner together, but we were also kind of on a date. We couldn’t tell Kim that, so I guess we both just decided not to say anything at all. “Guys, what’s happened between us? Is it Will?” Again, neither of us answered. “I don’t think him and I are going to work out. He said something really off the wall tonight.”
I wondered if he’d told her he knew something about Fiona and I. Then again, he couldn’t have, right? I mean, she wouldn’t be acting so….friendly towards us if he had. So what could he have said to her? Fiona’s face expressed my thoughts as she began to open her mouth to say something, but a waiter interrupted, asking Kim if she wanted anything. Damn those waiters, they always came at the worst times.
“Um, no thank you—“ Kim protested.
“It’s on me.” I told her.
“Oh, thanks,” she said looking at a menu and ordering what she wanted quickly. She handed the menu back to the waiter and he walked away.
“What did he say?” Fiona asked, not wasting a single second in finding out what the Devil reincarnated said to Kim. Kim went on to tell us about how they’d slept together for the first time tonight, and he had made a comment about having her in bed again. When she said that, my brain went on high alert. Kim was trying to convince herself that it was an accident that he’d said it, but I doubted it. I didn’t trust him, and I think his slip up meant something.
“Vinny, he’s your friend, what do you think?” Kim saying my name snapped me back to the restaurant. I looked at her, not sure what I should tell her exactly. If I told her what I was really thinking, she’d probably freak out. I didn’t want to lie to her though; then again, what difference would it make? I was already lying to her in a way. I know two wrongs don’t make a right, but it would just be better to keep her from worrying right now even though I despised Will.
“Uhh…” I started. “I don’t know Kim…Will’s thinking process is fast. So maybe he was thinking about something really fast, but he said it too slow. Do you know what I mean?” I said lamely. Wow, that was the dumbest thing I think I’ve ever said. Kim looked confused, but she rearranged her face and half smiled at me.
“Yeah, so you think it was an accident?” I shrugged and looked to Fiona, who was not looking the least bit happy about my lie. Our food came soon after that and we ate in silence. It wasn’t until we were all almost done with our meals that Kim asked if things were back to normal with us. “Guys, I feel so alone. I feel like you guys are kicking me out of our little trio. Did I do something? Tell me, honestly.” Her voice sounded so small and hurt by Fiona and I’s actions. I couldn’t take it anymore. She had to know, but I was going to confront Will about it first. He couldn’t keep the three of us apart forever.
