Guanjun's POV

"Everyone, please welcome our new supervisor, Guanjun!" Mr Ngiam announced, addressing the employees of Ngiam's World Pte Ltd. I clenched my fists, taking deep breaths. I already knew everyone – what was so difficult? Most of them were my friends, or classmates at least. But still, I found myself trembling and shaking — nervousness and apprehension clouding my thoughts — bright yellow butterflies flying in that cloud.

Suddenly, a bright, cheery voice came from behind. "Come on, Guanjun! I'll be right by your side," Leanne chirped in her sing-song manner of speech. I found my heart skipped a beat — surely it was just the butterflies.

"Alright, thanks Leanne." I mumbled. Steadying myself with one deep breath, I stepped onto the stage, with Leanne skipping behind me.

Leanne's POV

I skipped along behind my new boss. A thought suddenly popped into my mind. I was his secretary. He was my boss. With a shudder, I recalled what Angeline and Heather once told me...

"Leanne, do you watch k-dramas?" Angeline questioned, placing down her cup of tea.

I shook my head. "Not much. Why?"

"One of the most common tropes in k-dramas is the 'co-workers to lovers' trope. With Guanjun as your new boss, rumours will spread. Be careful..." Heather warned, leaning in closer to make sure that I was paying close attention to what she was saying. I nodded slowly, processing this thought in my head...

"Good morning, everyone." Guanjun's voice startled me and brought me back to the present. "Firstly, I would like to tell everyone this – at Ngiam's World, we strive to give the best education to students and let the legacy of Ngiam continue down for many more generations. As the new supervisor of my division, I promise that I will fulfil my role and work to achieve this goal."

As he paused to catch his breath, I couldn't help but wonder – since when was Guanjun this good at drafting up speeches? I tugged on my bright yellow scrunchie.

Guanjun's POV

This was much more nerve-racking than I thought. I was never confident at public speaking, even with people I already knew. Still, with so many people supporting me, I had to soldier on. Fixing my gaze on Leanne, I continued:

"I want to thank everyone that has helped me to reach this position. This is truly a big milestone for me. So, to everyone in this auditorium right now, thank you."

The audience clapped wildly. I could see my new division seated in the centre – easily identifying everyone. Skyler, Brayden, Samuel, Amos, Matthias, Kayden Lee, Amber and Jing Xi (but not Kiera because she's still in hospital (HEY). "This will be exciting..." I muttered under my breath, soft enough for no one to catch. With a final bow, I stepped off of the stage.

Leanne bounded over. "It wasn't that hard, was it? I knew you would do well!" She exclaimed with sparkles in her eyes.

"Yeah. It went well." Guanjun murmured.
