"Where's Heather?"

That was a question asked several times by various people in Alyssa's division that day. It was first asked by Clarice, to which Alyssa responded "Don't know". She asked Charlotte — supposedly omniscient —- but Charlotte only replied with "Klee". She asked Emma Leow, who replied with her confusion. Then, Emma Leow trawled through the office for Heather, but when she realised she vanished into thin air, she asked Aurelia, who disagreed, and the process continued.

Until everyone noted that Heather had disappeared, did someone mention it. Clarice scrolled through the security footage as Alyssa momentarily paused her game, brimming with annoyance, and interrogated Adley and Immanuel harshly, expecting the boys to have kidnapped her, or something.

She was right, but it was neither Adley nor Immanuel.

Clarice was about to leave the comms room, hopeless in searching for evidence, when she glanced at the grainy screens once more and spotted something strange. Heather's short hair pooled near a potted bonsai plant near the sliding glass entrance of the division, then was pulled away swiftly before anyone noticed. Clarice rewinded, frowning, but discovered no other pieces of proof.

She treaded into the sprawling, endless corridors of the company and located the entrance of the division. When she approached, she sighted a vent, its cover almost invisibly askew, that had gone unnoticed by the bonsai plant for so long, probably placed by administration. She unscrewed the cover swiftly with a nearby coin and trailed her finger along the metal sides of the vent, which clanked as she did so. A single long, fine, black fibre attached to her finger. She gagged mockingly in disgust and was about to wipe it off on her tiny pockets when realisation dawned on her. When she enquired to Aurelia and Rei, both agreed with Clarice. Adley and Immanuel were quite perturbed when Clarice, panicked, questioned them further, but she conceded the only conclusion she could. The fibre came from a suit.

And there was only one person in the company who bothered to wear a suit every day.

And he murdered her in cold blood.
