The entire of Alyssa's division's lights were switched off, humming with unused electricity. Kayden Lee eased into the division, dusting off the light switch, but not flicking it on. Leanne was draped over his shoulders, whom he deposited in front of Emma Fang's marked computer.
"Why are we here?" Leanne groaned with pain from being trapped in a car trunk for two days(i cant survive without food or water or at least a manga for two whole days), her eyes still adjusting to the dim sunlight outside. Deverlon's division was extremely musty and grimy, and Leanne despised the ambience.
"The whole division left to investigate Heather's death at Guanjun's division. We'll be safe here," said Kayden Lee promptly, making a quick inspection of the tables and chairs, ensuring it safe from traps. "But don't move an inch. The division could be back at any moment. Just... rest here, until I get medical professional help."
"How about Mr Ngiam?" Leanne suggested kindly. "He's a doctor, isn't he?"
Kayden Lee visibly stopped. He quivered for a while.
"Can I tell you something?" he asked, voice quieter than usual.
"You like me?" Leanne said, in awe, and slightly disgusted. Her eyes brightened and she stared at Kayden, moving her eyebrows up and down in the most ridiculous manner possible.(finally something accurate)
"No, no, nothing to do with that," Kayden Lee addressed the light switch, directed toward 'Off'. "You know Heather's dead?"
Leanne shook her head. "I was kidnapped by Deverlon's division, remember?"
"Right," Kayden Lee sighed. "Well, I killed Heather."
Leanne was speechless. "...why?"
"Mr Ngiam... he told me to. It was... a mission order, to say the least."
"You didn't have to accept it!" Leanne yelped.
"And yet, I wanted to save my career. My reputation." Kayden Lee's fingers fumbled with his tie. "I now realise... that was wrong."
"Wrong? That's bloody stupid!" hollered Leanne. "My god, I would have rather you told me you liked me. What the hell happened while I was gone?" She furrowed her brows in chagrin.
Kayden Lee hung his head.
The silence rang, tense, empty, vast.
"Rest," Kayden Lee instructed once more, brushing off his suit and slipping out of Alyssa's division.
