After they heard Midnight begin to announce more important parts of the recreational games, Killua suddenly stood up and looked down at Gon with a pointed look.
Gon just leisurely stood up as if he was trying to make sure that Killua wouldn't jump at any sudden movements.
But something worried him. Aunt Mito had taught him all about anxiety attacks and how she had severe depression when she was younger as a result of barely being able to spend time with Gon's father and how she rarely had anyone to talk to around her own age. He wasn't going to hurt Killua. At first, maybe he was even a bit offended? But he realized almost immediately that it wasn't his fault. He knew that Killua had a hard time during his imprisonment at his house while he was training to be an assassin.
Most importantly, Gon understood how terrified he had seemed to get when he mentioned pulling up his sleeves. He was just going to tell him that he looked a bit more pale than usual and it worried him. Was he not getting enough sun? Was he not eating right?
His brows furrowed as he stared at him deep in the eyes.
He was really worried for him. He cared so much. Sure.. he seemed gullible and was always getting into trouble that Kllua had to fix, but he learned something very valuable while serving as an underground assassin. Sometimes, acting happy and being just a highlight or background character is the best support you can give anyone.
If he was just himself after all he had gone through with Kite's death, traveling in the dark continent, and killing people for money in the world, he would only bring people's emotions and mental health down with him. Killua had been so strong and done everything he possibly could for Gon. He was always there for him, and even though he acknowledged it, he selfishly kept on going on about how he could find his father as if he could just replace Killua when he found him.
He tried not to think about all the times he had ignored the fact that his companion would constantly walk behind him as if he couldn't just walk besides him. As if he was just a shadow to Gon's supposed "light".
He grabbed Killua's hand.
"Are you ready to go back out?"
He was such a shit friend for not noticing Killua's struggles and mental health earlier.
KIllua shook his head yes and followed Gon out the door. This time, he made sure to pull Killua to stand right beside him.

After the recreational activities had been concluded and Midnight sent everyone to their respective seating areas, she began to announce the fighting arrangement while the lineups popped up on the screens.Kaminari vs Sero
Hitoshi vs Anastasia
Todoroki vs Aoyama
Iida vs Hatsume
Aliya vs Tokoyami
Kirishma vs Tetsutetsu
Bakugo vs UrarakaGon and Killua looked at each other with smirks.
"I can't wait to beat your ass and win," Killua jokes, slapping Gon harshly on the back of his neck while trying to avoid his wig.
"You wish!"
He slapped him back but missed his neck and accidentally pulled off his wig.
Killua fumbled to slip it back on while hissing "Dumbass!", but Gon was too busy doubling over and giggling a little too hard.
"Denki Kaminari and Hanta Sero! PLease make your way down to the floor!"
They turned and smiled at each other.
"May the best bitch win," they declared in unison, shaking hands and then slapping each other's butts before they were kicked out of the observation deck by Iida who had enough of their shit.
–
"And Denki Kaminari wins!" He was stumbling around with a dumb face and his thumbs up weakly as he had just used his quirk. He was lucky it knocked Sero out, because if it didn't he wouldn't have any chance at winning. "Err.... take him out of there please.."
The crowd was cheering as Midnight stood back on her podium with an excited face. "Yes, yes! How exciting! My my.." She glanced down at her cards before shaving them back into her pocket and putting on a face-splitting smile. "Next we have Hitoshi Shinso and Anastasia Midoriya! Please make your way down to the stadium!"
Killua walked out with his hands inside his pockets. Of course, to him, he was just an ex-assassin getting ready to beat someone's ass, but to everyone else, he looked like a small, pale girl who looked innocent enough until it was too late.
He numbly walked onto the grounds and waited for him to show up. His patience was waning when the purple-headed, sleep deprived looking kid walked out and stood in front of him uncomfortably.
"Alright, now that both of our students are here, we will begin!"

Sorry I finally returned 😭
I've been struggling (again) with my depression and fun shit and then I felt bad that I had written anything so I'm gonna start writing again because I think I might be getting close to my end goal
If you hadn't noticed, I had to make few changes based on... uh how I killed off some characters earlier 😅
But were hood and I'm going to possibly finish this within the next few weeks because this is consuming a lot of my time (writing a full ass story is harder than people realize 😭)
