"You can sleep here, I will just stay in the car," I looked at Cloud while he was checking the room. Tinitignan nito ang salamin na naroon habang kunot ang mga noo.

It was as if he didn't hear me. He just continued checking the wall, the door, the window, everything. Pinagmamasdan ko lang ito habang ginagawa ang mga iyon.

"I'll leave you here now," I said before I turned my back on him to march out and get back to the car.

"Ashanti," he called my name. I stopped on my track and looked at him. "Hmm?" I asked him.

Naglakad papalapit sa akin si Cloud bago hinawakan ang kamay ko. "You can sleep here. I just checked if it's secured," he said before looking around. "There's a camera on the hallway so you'll be safe," he added before walking towards the stairs.

"Wait, what?" kumunot ang noo ko bago ko sinundan si Cloud. "Aren't you going to stay here?" I asked him. Tumingin naman ito sa akin. Pansin ko na rin sa mga mata nito ang pagod dahil may walong oras na rin itong nagmamaneho kanina. Humihinto kami para kumain at bumili ng kape pero hindi naman sapat ang mga pahinga na iyon para rito.

I know he needs to sleep.

We stayed at this hotel but since it started raining earlier, puno na rin ang hotel na napuntahan namin. Hindi naman katulad ng hotel sa maynila ang napuntahan namin kaya mabilis talagang mapuno ang mga kwarto.

"I'll stay in the car," sagot nito sa akin. "You should go get some rest, Ashanti. Malakas pa rin ang ulan kaya hindi pa tayo makakabiyahe ngayon," sabi nito sa akin bago akmang bababa na ng hadgan.

"But you're tired. Sa ating dalawa, mas pagod ka dahil na rin nagmaneho ka. You should be the one resting comfortably, not me..." sabi ko rito bago nag-iwas ng tingin. I hate that when I asked if there's a room with two beds, the staff told us that they're all fully booked. Wala na ring extra na kama kaya talagang isang kama na lang ang nakuha namin.

Hindi naman na tumanggi si Cloud sa receptionist dahil nga mahirap makahanap ng hotel na may bakanteng kwarto.

"It's really fine with me, Ashanti. Besides, do you really think I will be able to rest comfortably if I let you stay in the car to sleep?" he asked me before looking at the hotel room's door. "Go inside and rest," muling sabi nito sa akin.

I heaved a sigh before I reached for his arm.

"Stay here..." halos pabulong ko na lang na sabi rito. Tumingin naman sa akin si Cloud na nakakunot ang noo na tila ipinagtataka kung ano ang sinabi ko.

"Like you, I don't have the heart to let you stay there... alone. Well, at least here, we can sleep and rest... together..." nag-iwas ako ng tingin nang muli niya akong pagmasdan. Parang gusto ko na lang bawiin ang sinabi ko at pagsarhan ito ng pinto.

"Are you sure about that?" Cloud asked me while looking at me seriously.

I looked at him and I could feel that any moment, my knees would weaken because of his stares.

"Yeah, but if you will still insist that you want to stay in the car, then–"

"Fine," Cloud said and held my arm and walked back to the room.
