Bonnie was abruptly woken from his rest.
"I hear something!" Freddy exclaimed in alarm. Bonnie sighed. Another one of those nights.
"Oh, Freddy...it's just a mouse! It's ok!" He reassured. He knew full well it was no mouse, but he had made a promise not to let Freddy hurt anyone again. The bear could act impulsively when he's angry or frightened, which had led to a few injuries from security and mantainence workers so far. The recall had unintentionally made his temper worse.
The bear eyed Bonnie wearily before another noise rang out, stealing his focus again.
"I still hear it! Someone is here!" He fought.
"I don't hear anything. Nothing is here! Let's just go back to sleep!" Bonnie tried reassuring. The bear scowled.
"What if it's a kid?! We need to be there to give them a birthday surprise!" Freddy countered.
Bonnie felt like crying. This was becoming exhausting. Almost every day now, it was as if he was Freddy's babysitter and not his friend. It did not help they could not even perform anymore... and they barely got to see their friends again.
Bonnie was just exhausted.
~~
Bonnie jolted awake on stage. Another dream or memory, he was not sure which. He has always had them, but they were beginning to grow more and more frequent.
He turned to his left on stage and noticed Chica was missing, most likely in Foxy's Cove. Foxy gets extremely self-conscious about his new body and hates being seen by security or anyone besides the kids, so naturally, he spent most of his time there. Away from the cameras' vision.
Freddy was on the stage with him, though. He was sitting ahead staring at nothing, and his legs were dangling off the stage. Bonnie sauntered over to him and sat down by his side, noting he did not even seem to notice the bunny's presence. Though, Freddy was never the most observant anyway.
Bonnie scooted closer to his side and leaned his weight onto him, causing the bear to wake up from his day dreaming.
"Oh, Bon! Did I wake you?? I am sorry, I was trying not to." He apologized. Bonnie giggled softly.
"You didn't wake me, Fred. I wish you had, though." He said, lifting his head to make eye contact with him. Freddy smiled softly and gently headbutted the bunny.
"You have been spacing out a lot lately... I just thought you were not resting enough. I did not wish to interrupt you." He affirmed. Bonnie sighed.
"But I wanna' spend time with you, silly-bear-" He wrapped his arms around Freddy's mid torso and nuzzled his chest earnestly. Freddy snickered at that and wrapped his right arm around the bunny, accepting the affection.
"I'll remember that next time." He garenteed. The two of them relaxed in the embrace in comfortable silence before Freddy broke it.
"...hey, Bon-? I have a weird question..." He began. Bonnie lifted his head to the bear's to give him his full attention.
"What is it, Fred?"
The bear glanced down nervously.
"Do you...ever feel paranoid? Like... you feel something bad is coming... but you don't know what...?" He asked. Bonnie froze.
"Where did you start getting that idea??" He had tried keeping his voice steady but could not control the subtle panic in it. The bear seemed put off by his tone as well, as he visibly jumped.
"I-I don't know...it just kind of happened...why, do you know something?" Freddy asked curiously. Bonnie diverted his gaze to the ground.
"N-no...no, I dont... that's just a weird feeling..." He lied fearfully. He wanted to tell the truth, he really did, but he did not even know the truth himself. He did not know how he could explain what he saw, or if what he saw was real at all. The last thing he wanted was to start a panic over something he does not know for sure.
"But you shouldn't worry too much about it, Fred. You're gonna' be fine." He swore. Freddy sighed and shifted so he could face the bunny head-on.
"It's not me I'm worried about, Bon..." He had finally looked the bunny in the eyes. He lifted a hand to Bonnie's chin to keep their eyes locked on each other.
"I have to keep the band safe...especially you... I could not live with myself if something had happened to you and I could have stopped it." His voice trembled. Bonnie couldn't help but beam at Freddy's love and devotion to him. He really was lucky.
"Freddy...just 'cause we're partners does not mean I need special treatment from you," He brushed off. Freddy shook his head. He took the bunny's hand and squeezed it gently.
"You deserve it." He smiled. If Bonnie had a heart it would have melted at that very moment. He didn't get the opportunity to kiss the bear in return as Foxy and Chica left the cove and headed towards the stage. Freddy quickly let go of his hand and scooted away again, which the others didn't notice as they were still talking.
"Hey, you guys excited for the party tomorrow?" Chica asked.
This new location was very small, and could only fit one scheduled party at a time rather than being an open place. The others couldn't complain though. It meant more free days for them and less guests to worry about at events.
Freddy nodded. "That reminds me though, I need to get the microphone checked out." Freddy stood up and jogged over to take it.
"What's wrong with it, cap'n?" Foxy asked. Freddy picked it up and looked it over.
"I'm not sure...but when I speak into it, I sound...weird." He glanced curiously at it. Bonnie smirked mischievously.
"Are we sure it's the microphone?" He teased. Freddy cackled at his joke.
"Shut up, Bonnie-!" He snapped half-heartedly. Chica giggled as well and climbed onto the stage.
"Bonnie's such a bully." Sbe joked. Foxy rolled his eyes.
"He's obnoxious." Foxy huffed and crossed his arms.
"Is that anyway you treat your friends?" Bonnie inquired sarcastically.
"We're not friends!" Foxy remarked.
