Ava
"Really?"
"Oh, yes." Oliva nods as she looks at me with all seriousness. "Eyes are a weakness like for how demons it is wings and Vampires with the sun."
"But how can eyes be a weakness? Would you have to-" I shuddered at the thought.
"Mhm."She nods. "Scoop them, stab them, poison them. The list is never-ending."
"Have you-"
"Ever done that? Yes." She lets out a pitiful smile. "One doesn't think about it when the other is torturing or looking at you like a creep."
"I'm so sorry, Oliva." I hold her hand as she shrugs.
"It's fine." But it is not. "If the incubus doesn't have its sight, it won't know where to direct its essence. It will affect but the other may overpower it."
I nod and look back at the flowers.
"It is very pleasant here," I say to Oliva as I change the subject and I walk through the gardens. It was almost evening and the sun shining was welcoming.
I won't get this in the Vamperian kingdom once we return tomorrow. As per Oliva, the werewolves planned this ceremony so that it would be time for the lunar eclipse.
"It really is."
We were walking slowly as Oliva was six months pregnant and I was hesitant to let her walk so much. She and her mates assured me that it is no problem and it is a good exercise to walk sometimes.
"What is it like in the Shadow lands?"
I ran my hands through the long grass, glancing at Calix who was rolling in it. It was important to keep Calix away from the high king of the dragons.
I was insisting on not getting him along here as there could be danger but Cassius assured me that they won't harm him if we don't provoke them by taking him near them.
I feel sad for Calix knowing that he knows his family is right here and is unaccepting of him. That he has to see all the dragons wrestling playfully in the meadows with their parents while he stares at them from afar.
I will play with him in the morning. I know he misses our time.
"It's mostly cold and humid. It rains a lot in those lands so there are dense thorny forests." She chuckles shaking her head as if remembering something making me smile in her direction. "We don't have land to build castles so we have them built over large trees."
"Like a tree house?"
"Similar to a tree house." She nods and then looks at me with wide eyes. "You should come to visit. You told me you love climbing and there are plenty to climb, even I can join you."
I smiled warmly and looked at her swollen belly making her realize and laugh.
"Of course, I forget I am carrying a child sometimes." She chuckles. "You will have to wait for a few months for me to join you but do come."
I don't know why but there was a sudden emotion swelling in me as she held my hand. My heart warmed at her friendly nature.
"I would love to come." I smiled as I held her hand and we walked more.
The forest surrounding us was busy with birds as they returned to their nests. It reminded me to meet Duke before leaving. I am sure he has many questions to ask.
