Aiden.

With a roar we all marched forward, the guards stationed at the gates doing their best to hold back until they got back up.

They were clearly surprised by our unannounced attack. While at war, both kingdoms know about it, fix a date and location, and then attack. Not like how we did here. We were attacking like barbarians.

We didn't have time to call our army from Vamperia and we were grateful when the Wolverine and the High King of the Dragons lent us all the guards which they had brought with them to the Celestial Ball.

Hearing Ava through the bond brought relief to my bones but we need to get her out of here. I made a mistake; we all did and maybe we had to talk it through.

She doesn't know what is happening to her. When we talked to Killan, I wished I could rewind time and hold her close to me tight. I was foolish to leave her alone in the land which had our enemies.

Not enemies anymore but being backstabbed by our ally.

Blood splattered as I cut through another Incubi guard. They were at odds and they knew it. I saw a few running away but a fair number of men stayed back.

I can understand they are loyal to their king but they were loyal to the wrong one. Luke had helped us get into their lands without being noticed when he found out what his father had done.

But it was obvious that he took no part in it. Nico and Cole, both have a soft spot for Oliva and they wouldn't have wanted that to happen to her or their child.

They couldn't join knowing that would be held as treason but they did promise not to wage war upon us when the time came for Nico's reign.

"You go ahead," I look over at Cassius as he shouted over the crowd to me. He was in his demon form, fighting with his claws and swords. His wings twitch every now and then when something brushes against it. "You know the route. We will hold them back. Call through the mate bond if needed."

I give him a nod as I rush inside the castle. We can't use the mind link when we are at war. It is one of many tricks of an incubus to get into the enemy's head when they are vulnerable in a physical fight.

Two soldiers, one from werewolf one dragon, one in front of me, and one behind as we slotter everything that comes in our way.

I pray that Ava was safe. I hope she is safe and never has to face this again. I will skin that bonny fucker alive if he has harmed her. Even laid a hand on her. But I don't think that will stop me or Cassius or even Ava's fathers to torture him to death.

I followed her scent as we ran through the corridors. It ended in front of the doors making me curse out loud. Bastian, the High King of the Shadowland was not seen downstairs, so there was a huge chance that he was with her.

I went to open the door but cursed that it was locked, more like a spell locked.

"Ava!" I banged on the door but all I could hear were her whimpers. My heart was crushed as we kept pushing the door. "Ava, open up if you can!"

I listened quietly. My eyes widened when I heard Bastian's heartbeat weakening over the war cries outside.

"Fuck!" I threw my body at the door with all my might but nothing happened. I turned to the two guards as I spoke. "Blow that wall up."

The scaly-looking soldier came forward, putting his hands on the wall. I could see a certain glow on his palms as he pushed through the stones and crushed them apart.

I am sure, if I had a heart, it would be beating at a very unhealthy rate. I waved my hands in front of me when the stones crushed and caused a lot of dirt to explode.
