Ava.
I tensed when the two men walked into the room, both of their eyes on me as I try to shrink into the covers. Aiden looked relieved to see me as he rushed by my side and sat at the edge of it, taking my hand in his by surprise.
From the corner of my eye, I could see Silas' jaw clenched as he eyed our hands. Aiden seemed to be unaware of the daggers thrown by Silas or if he did, he was ignoring it very well.
"How are you feeling?" Aiden asked. I broke my trance and looked into his worried eyes and then at our held hands. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the touch or notice my rigid stance.
"Fine." I tried to smile at him but I surely know it didn't seem genuine.
"Just fine?" He tilted his head making me chuckle. He does seem cute when he acts like this.
I see him smiling at me making me nod in response. "Yes, just fine."
"Is your sight, okay? Do your eyes hurt? Do you have a headache? Do I need to call Doctor -"
"I can see very well. There is no need for a doctor." I give him a small smile but that flattens when I see Silas.
The last time I had seen him was when he held me by my throat and threatened me to let go of the balcony. And he did. Merida said that it was him who also saved me making me internally roll my eyes at the stupidity.
But it did scare me a lot when I woke up and all I saw was darkness. And to add to my misery Silas found me and that scared me so much that I was asking Merida to constantly speak with me if she was in the room so I don't get spooked.
My breath hitched when he took a step closer in my direction making me grip the sheets beneath me and push my body back into the pillows. It wasn't gone unnoticed by Aiden making him give me a sympathetic smile.
"No one will be hurting you, Ava," Aiden said as he rubbed his thumb on my hand. "Plus, Silas came here to tell you something."
As if hinting at the vampire behind him Silas groaned and shifted his gaze from Aiden to me. I felt this room getting hotter as he just kept looking at me as if searching for my soul.
Esmeray, the voice in me started to get irritated by his gaze and not like that we were being speculated like a specimen. So, I listened to her words and narrowed my eyes back at him.
He blinked a couple of times realising what he was doing and cleared his throat, looking down at his feet as if mentally scolding himself.
"Silas!" Aiden snapped at him not liking the wait.
"Quite Aiden." He snaps back. They glare at each other for some time as if speaking with their eyes making me realise, they were probably minded linking.
"So, umm..." Silas shifts his weight from one foot to another as he looks at the floor as if it is the most interesting thing to gawk at. "You see..."
-yes we can see very well, thanks to you.
I chuckle in my mind at Esmeray's words.
"lt wasn't the smartest of me to throw you off of the balcony." My eyes are wide at his words as he looks at me sincerely. "I am sorry that you came into my room in the middle of the night and decided to walk in without permission-"
"All he means to say is sorry." He glares at Silas making him roll his eye.
"Yeah sure," Silas says as he walks and sits on the couch which was right in front of the bed.
