I want the kids to hear about trans people.
I want the kids to understand, to encourage, to love and to explore.
I want to be more than the morning news that their parents sit and laugh at. I don't want the children to call us the same vile names their parents faithfully believe we are.
we are more than your morning news. more than your school scandal. more than a dirty allegation or a sin against humanity. we are more than a brutal hate crime story for you to enjoy on TikTok and Instagram, we are more than a hush-hush topic that shouldn't be discussed at all.
you laugh and gawk at the horror stories of my sisters, brothers and siblings being burned, beaten, and gutted to death every single day and every single day we watch those stories of people just like us being hated and killed for existing and we grieve. from the moment I discovered my identity I heard the laughs of all of humanity echo though my mind, body and soul and rip me apart for every single second I didn't accept it.
I've seen people I know spend their whole lives miserable ignoring the obvious. my mother, my uncle who died years ago, my best friends who all knew what it meant for them to be trans and the inherit danger we face and the evil the world thinks we spread just for being alive
I want the kids to hear about trans people. we are full of light, full of love. full of acceptance and full of kindness. full of bravery and full of magic. we are not your entertainment and we are not a sin. we are not dirty and we are not a secret. we are the exact same people as you with a little more to our inner identities.
I want the kids to hear about trans people
you don't know how many of your kids that are trans hear you too.
