I came at the exact time as I didn't wanna make a bad first impression and no one knows better than me how much Jones' hate unpunctual people. I ring the doorbell and an equally nervous Charlotte opened the door but as soon she sees me her face softens up. She pulls me in a hug and her usual scent of sandalwood is replaced by new fragrance. It is light as well but it is somehow more intoxicating; I am not sure but I think its vanilla but with something more.
She looks like an angel in her clothes. It's a very basic attire but it suits her and it's not just her clothes that make her seem unreal. She is wearing a knee length white-colored silk floral sundress but they way it compliments her warm skin and curves is intoxicating. Everything about her is perfect.
I might be addicted to her and the feel of her against me. I am reluctant to move away from her but she drags me across the living room discreetly. "Why're you acting so suspicious? I know you're nervous about introducing me to your parents but you yourself said that it needs to done before they figure out themselves. And I mean look at me. How can they not like me?" I say coolly making Charlotte roll her eyes but also pass a shy smile.
She takes both my hands in hers as she answers, "Yeah, I know they'll definitely like you but I chickened out and didn't tell them that we've a visitor. So let alone you being my boyfriend, you even being here will be a shock to them."
I caress her hands and graze her soft skin, trying to reassure her, "Its fine my sunshine. We will deal with it. Now, don't worry and kiss me." She instantly flushes at my words.
"You have no idea how much I want to kiss you but my parents will be down any second. I don't want them to give me the talk or be responsible for their heart attack," she says with her usual giddy smile making me laugh too. Suddenly we hear footsteps and Charlotte immediately pulls away from me and readjusts her dress.
Both her parents share a look as they walk down the stairs. They both walk towards us with surprised looks on their faces. "We had no idea that we were gonna have company. We would've dressed decently." Charlotte's mom says as they stop in front of us. Charlotte looks just like her mother, hazel brown hair, brown eyes, tall, warm skin. Her father looks a rough, old man who has worked hard all his life.
Charlotte nudges her mother before saying, "You look decent enough mom. I am sorry I forgot to tell you earlier about our visitor. He's Edward, the guy I tutor." She says and I glare at her, making a mental note to spank her as soon as I can. She knows I don't like being introduced as the guy she tutors. I know she will take some time to introduce me as a boyfriend but she could have at least called me "my friend".
I hold my hand out to Shelton Jones who grabs it in a tight grip but not strong enough to intimidate me, "Edward Morris. Nice to meet you Mr. Jones."
Shelton eyes me before replying, "Hello Edward. I am sure the feeling will be mutual." I love a good challenge.
"Shelton, Charlotte, Edward, come on. Dinner is ready," Charlotte's mom, Liana, leads us to the dining table in the kitchen. Charlotte and I sit side by side and Shelton and Liana sit on the chairs in front of ours.
"Edward, I hope you like dim sum and soup. Though Dim sum is a snack, we like to keep dinners simple. Had I known you were coming I would have prepared something better," Liana says she shoots daggers at Charlotte.
"No, it's fine Mrs. Jones. I like Dim sum. Don't you worry about it." She passes me a smile as she serves us.
We all start eating and not gonna lie I really liked Dim sum, though I ate it for the first time. Yeah, of course I lied about this. As we continue eating in silence, Charlotte's father breaks the awkward silence lingering in the air, "So, Edward what do you plan on doing after graduation?" It had to be the question I hate the most.
